As you all know I am building a 72 Blazer. I had made a decision to build it more as a duel purpose rig. What most of you may not know is that I race bikes. I decided due to cost of building my truck to take my time and continue racing bikes until it is done. Well I recently crashed and broke three bones in my foot.
So, after sitting on my butt in a cast for the last month I've given some thought to the hole roll cage concept. The money I spent on medical and racing the last year would have gotten the Blazer pretty far. The Blazer has been put back on the front burner and as soon as I can I'll be going back to work on it and posting an update.

I may be a migrant racer, but no tomato picking for me.

Frankly, given that you live in Colorado, I would be spending some time with the Watsons of Off Road Design fame. They probably are very familiar with your local terrain, plus they've been accumulating more and more desert racing experience. They are good guys.

I have talked to steven at ORD on the phone to get some setup ideas. they do seem like nice people, very helpful also. I am planning on using some of their parts
ARe you running their shackle flip kit on your rig ? or is that setup not good for desert? I was also wandering how their traction bar setup would work ?

I use the original rear shackle brackets that have been repositioned on the frame. Most of us are using rear springs that are approximately 60" long. I think the stock rears are 54-56" long. A good low buck move is to take your stock rear springs and move them to the front. Coloradok5.com has pictures on the site of this process. I dont' use any traction bars currently, so I can't comment on their product, but Autofab's set-up for the Bronco seems to work well. Look on this site for info on this product.

Hey, Dan here, just wanted to update you all on my progress. My foot is heeled well enough for me to walk again so I started working on the blazer. as of now I have it totally stripped, all of the brackets removed form the frame, and wire wheeled the whole frame. I have begun boxing in parts of the frame, and started mocking up the suspension. I designed some pretty trick rear spring hangers/body mount/cage tie ins and Im having AVALANCHE eng. cut out all the pieces for me on there cnc plasma. They mostly do rock rigs but are into desert and offered their help. I ordered afew parts to keep me going while I get back to work and make some more $$$$. I took some pics but I need some body to tell me the easy way to post em. I have also decided to go FULL BLOWN CLASS 3. as far as WHEN? ........ASAP!:D

SWEET!

with regards to pics... that has been discussed a few times. Seems like photobucket is the hot ticket? Others agree.

Can't wait to see another blazer at the races. Now get your butt on the Class 3 Cup thread and vote on some races and places you'd like to race next year. You've got time to get it ready!
