Dear Class 3 Cup enthusiasts;
Due to a lack of entries - the obvious result of economic conditions and high gas prices, the Board of Directors has overwhelmingly approved a switch of venue for the 2nd race of the Class 3 Cup. We will be skipping the BITD Vegas to Reno.
This switch will allow racers to choose between either of the two September races: SCORE Primm 300 (Sept 5-6) or the MDR Lucerne 250 (Sept. 27). The MDR race was already to be a Class 3 Cup race anyway, this just allows racers to "choose" an alternate September race.
I apologize for the late notice. I had run this by all members of the board previously and was waiting to see if any other Class 3 folks might enter the V2R. I would like it to be known that I especially ran this by Moss Bros racing, who is scheduled to run the V2R. Had there been any bad feelings, I would have been willing to pay them for winning a "Cup" race, at the "scaled" amount, if nobody else showed. Moss Bros. announced they will still run the V2R... "it's personal now"... since they suffered a very rare DNF last year.
Further, since two of our Board Members have already announced their intentions (and entered) the Primm 300, this is a win-win, because nobody will be punished, but instead those choosing to race Primm will have the chance to garnish additional money at a race they already committed to run.
So Don Moss and Dan Wright, for example, will have the chance to compete for Cup money that otherwise would NOT have been allocated for this race. Cup money and points are on a "sliding scale"... the more people you beat, the more points and money you stand to earn!
Look for the posting soon on the scale of payout and points. The points schedule will remain as is for THIS year, as it was made public at the Mint 400.
Once again, I apologize for the late notice. I had hoped this step would not be necessary, but we must try to pick races where we can attract a greater turn-out of racers. The V2R is logistically challenging, and an expensive race to run (in the heat of the Nevada desert, no less).
I hope to see you ALL at either Primm or the MDR 250 in Lucerne. Please continue to support Class 3 racing, including this website and the Class 3 Cup. There is NO bigger bang for the buck!
Sincerely,
Ken Leavitt
