yes... but Saxton is down so he is about to be 5th. Saxton had quite a lead. Clint Barry is also doing zero ahead of Moss... look for 4th shortly!! LONG ways to go. I put them in 1st by the end of the race!

BJ just got passed by McMillan up front... Andy is doing 118 right now.

(5:51 update)... and now the leader is moving a zero at RM170!!

class 1800, thats like class 8 or what,. moss guys are about to pass the guys in first place,. cool..

It's the safari class... like 1450 in MDR. Originally designed for "pre-runners"... but I've seen the way the class is going. Guys show up with killer trucks that SHOULD be racing in class 8. They are very fast but tend to break.

Mark my words, the next thing in our sport you will hear about is people bitching that "Safari guys" are showing up with trophy trucks... and it isn't fair. I can see both sides of this argument.

Anyway, it's a sportsman truck class basically. NO RULES beyond safety.

That is what Class 3 would have to race in (with our own points and side-pot), if we want to race BITD. In SNORE or BORE, we'd either have to ask the promoter to have class 3 or we'd race heavy metal. Casey has even said he would entertain Class 3, but frankly his "pro" classes are very very expensive. Even the safari classes have to have IRC and transponders now.

Go Moss!!

got it,. just like class 18 of CODE,. big trucks there, and yes, just like you said, they tend to break very easy, but you never know, but well, the black bronco its a killer truck , haha, right, i will not be surprised if they win this race,.

Join me in voting in a CODE race for next years Class 3 Cup!! I raced one years ago and it was a blast.

I want all racers and SOON-to-be racers to start thinking about next year. If we do this right, we can choose the best races of the year and promote the hell out of the class 3 cup!! It has the potential to be more important than any single Class 3 championship in any given series. Now.. back to the race.

Moss is two miles from taking first place!!

(UPDATE: 9:55 - HE IS MOVING AGAIN!!!) 11 miles behind 1st. That was too long for a pee break! :)

I love the Class 11 guys, and mean no harm... but the leader has passed the leader in 1800!! ouch.

Well folks, unless something happens in the next 45 or so miles, it looks like class 3 made an excellent showing with 2nd place!!

SO hard to believe that a class 11 appears to have finished this well!! (?).

Anyway, I would say that... judging by the average speeds I have seen over the entire race. This must be a doozy of a race course. I'm guessing pretty rough, but then again... I've never sat home and watched MY average speeds.. so maybe I'm wrong!!!

Anyway, I admire Moss Bros. and the whole team for taking this on, as a personal vendetta due to the rare DNF last year! What a GREAT finish, given the other trucks I've been seeing in 1450 and Safari. wow. Anything can happen!! BTW...the original leader Eddie Saxton is up and running again - and fast, but 20 miles behind our Moss boys.

-----------------

quick update:

Clint Barry is sitting at Pit 11... zero (for the moment). Can you imagine 11 pits????? wow.

Go Don, Ken, Dave and crew.. they are gaining by the second. If I know them, this will be a short pit, due to the last long one! Wish I were there for encouragement.... :(

==========================

boy, do I feel stupid!! I know Kurt Kupiec races class 12 with his sons in Score...a nice buggy...not the class 11 we are used to. THAT explains a LOT. Sorry guys for the misinformation above. NOW I know why "we" are running with that class. Now I'm proud again! :)

Moss is almost 20 miles behind Clint & theres only 5 miles or so left for Clint.

Congrats to the Moss Team for doing this good in this race & from what I've seen tonight, if it was'nt for the long Pit stop you would have maintained the lead! http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/m2c.gif

But heck this is Off Road racing, anything can still happen, STOMP on it Moss! http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/3gears.gif

Ya man... ditto!! It was fun to watch and made me proud of our Class 3 brothers. Damn I wish we were there.

Look for us at the MDR race in September.

I'd encourage ANYONE reading this to either race, chase, or spectate either the Primm race or the MDR race in September. As the song I'm listening to: get the F off the commode (RAGE). How the hell do you spell commode?

After talking with Gary today, I was reminded: THE FUTURE OF THIS CLASS IS UP TO US!!!!

We have the best (somewhat) affordable class that is not for wussies. Let's keep after it!!!!

A broken wheel sounds simple enough? http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/6.gif

Sounds like a simple swap of a spare. http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/shrug.gif

The winning buggy looked like an oversized Rhino using an Ecotech 4 cylinder! I think there were only two other trucks in the class, but they were not really up to abuse, and we never saw them after the start. Course was rough, rough, rough. We got hung up in a massive traffic jam RM 45, 1829 would have been in same one. A 7 truck turned over in the trail at about RM 55, not sure if 1829 got caught with that, had to turn it back over to get through. The Nevada silt is absolutely endless and massive. The wheel exploded on Dave and Gary, like he said, deep in the silt and it was pitch black dark by then. We had electrical problems, and the engine was way down on power. First time ever we had to pull the air cleaner and clean it out during a race. More later, the heat just really took its toll on us all.

Moss Bros got a splash of gas at pit 4 where I was doing radio for BITD.
Was great cheering them on. Reading you guys progress reports, even now that it's over is exciting, thanks.
Sounds like a big stone did gather up some Moss and bet it was rolling after they hit it. ;) Congrats to Moss Bros for running a great race!!
