Who plans on racing or pitting or spectating this race?
This is a Class 3 cup Race & we could use all the support possible & it would be awesome to see a bunch of Class3Cup t-shirts there. :D

I will for sure be there one way or another. http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/7.gif

So... IF we make this race, can I count on a few guys to stay sober long enough to pit us through the race?

I'm talking about having a jack, decent tools, and a couple people who can poor fuel or learn how?

We could probably cover main pit ok... but I would like to have at least one reliable remote pit.

Is anybody else thinking we should be allowed to race 5 laps... not 4?

That is only 172 miles??? arf.

I suppose we could approach MDR.

My pop thought he read that the fast classes were going to be split from the slower classes? I guess we fall into the "slower group" :(

On a serious note I always figure Pit as close as possible to the Checkers if their there.
They're a bunch of good guys that will help who ever needs it.

If I was'nt tied in with Class 3 so much, I'd always be at the race's with them. http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/7.gif

Hey guys, FYI: The MDR California series does not have a group split start, just sent out by class, fastest ones first. Class 300 is normally in front of the 9's and the 11's which take off last, so 3's are for sure near the back of the bus in starting order.

Well camping is pretty much madatory here... no hotels within an easy reach... kind of a pain, actually.

It's official, I'm printing out the form and in spite of being short-handed and short on tires... the Crew Chief Ray says we can race!! :D

2009 will require some serious maintenance, but we figure we can limp around one more race course! :)

It's been about 600 miles since we did anything substantial... and the Mint was not easy... still no leaks or drips or misses!

Hope some of you guys/gals can make it out to race and/or spectate!

Well Camping is fun & much cheaper, But...... If your the sort of guy that prefers a Hotel room & shower & bar & resturaunt etc etc.....

VictorVille is a pretty simple drive to lots of hotels/Motels, So dont let that scare any of you away.

Its about a 30/40 minute drive to the nearest hotel/Motels, but its wide open desert highways with no traffic lights. :)

So even if you dont have any camping gear its a short drive to the comfort of a nice room, etc.

Please wear your Class 3 Cups shirts if you arrive to show your support to those that dont even know about us. http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/7.gif

I was confused with the Joe Rockhead (who the heck is this?) then there was the Mr. Pibb reference, and I knew EXACTLY who it was. We really turned that Whiskey Pete's cafe upside down Sunday morning. Seems like it would be hard to do, but we did it without even trying. JR's good help. Cool, can we call it the Anger Issues Nation? Or does Dail Jr. have a patent on that?

I appreciate the offers, that is awesome! It will be me, my dad, Tom (co-dawg 1) and Cam (co-dawg 2). Mom will be there, of course, and Ta Ta (I'm mean La La) :D So we are a pretty small team and will take whatever help we can muster up! With a little luck, we won't need it!

We will try to pit near Gerry or any other Class 3 members.

I, infortunately, started a new project and there is NO way I can break free to be there for the pre-run. Cam and Tom are in charge of that. I will leave Burbank at 3:00 or so, and basically do the "rock-star" thing and show up to drive. I guess we must be camping, since I don't have my motorhome anymore, and hotels are a long ways away. Looks like a tent for the night!! Last time I pitched the tent a good mile or so away from the main pit (so I could sleep)... might do the SAME thing this time.

Really looking forward to meeting some of you guys. Anyone arriving Friday can find my truck (see avatar) and my Dad's name is Ray. Just introduce yourself!!

So the plan is:

Cam (co-dawg 2) takes Tom (co-dawg 1) on the pre-run.

Lara shows up with Team Cervantes and pre-runs in the Powder Puff rig. Lara is entered with our team, just in case.

Andy Leavitt is bringing his long-travel class 8/sportsman truck to pre-run, possibly with crew chief Ray, to follow Cam and Cervantes around a lap (or lead the crew).

I'd say if you prefer to set up a pit on the far side (assuming they have one), that would be awesome. We are 154.600. I don't think we need to worry about top-secret plan and pits at this point.

If not, I totally understand. Spectating can be fun too!!

I doubt we will try to send any of our skeleton crew over there... short laps, truck is well-prepped. I won't ever say "no" to an extra pit, but I haven't looked at the map - very very busy at work, and 1.5 hours each way commute.

Look us up when you get there. Look forward to it!! We will try to camp near the range rovers.

They are testing the bug for the powder-puff race. My plan, if this goes well, is to send the girls around the course on a lap... leaving in front of you cam... so you can sweep. The bug is race-ready, so chances are, you wouldn't see them at all. I hope their race radio can dial in a freq... but who knows.

The current plan is for most of us in the Anger Issues team to be arriving at about Noon.

Friday, right?

We're going to head out at 5:30am Saturday and should be there around 7-7:30. We'll look you guys up when we arrive. I'll have 3 other very capable guys with me. If you need a pit, we can git-r-dun right and at a good pace. Toss an extra spare in that I can drag out there.

Congrats to the Anger Issues team for their win today! Great to meet all of you out there!

Can't believe you're home already Joe!

I just called and talked to Blanco, and he confirmed the Anger Issues win. They trailed the Rover going into the 4th, but the Rover broke a trailing arm or something. They were able to get it repaired and bring it in for the finish for a 100% finishing rate for the class. Congratulations guys! Blanco did say they had some kind of toe out issue with the Bronco that they had to fix, but no other problems. He said they saw Yikes out at a remote pit all day long, but never had to stop in.

Congratulations fellas! I'll let Ken and the crew tell their story, but great race! They looked good coming by us all day. We were dieing for something to do, but it was great that they didn't need the pit. The race was close coming into the last lap. It was too bad the Rover broke the y link.

It was good meeting Ken and his crew. Great bunch of guys!! Looking forward to the next Class 3 race fellas!

Sad to say...no that wasn't me. I got stuck working today. That was probably Yikes, or maybe Convoy.

So what's the lowdown on that 1400 truck?

It was so dusty at the wall you could not see anything.I HEARD a truck going fast, then the usual ugly sounds.Truck ended up on its side, then the power steering fluid caught fire. When the dust cleared. the truck had scorched fiberglass and looked like this ) bent like a u. OOPS!

Hey guys,

_Was nice to finally meet a couple of guys from the web sites I frequent, even better to have some running the race. Well guys this is my first venture into spectating and photography, as I'm usually helping in a pit, chasing, waiting for my turn in the car, or Drinking Heavily. So I managed to get a couple of pics of some Class 3 action, I have some video too, but I wont go through that till later in the week though. These are some pics off camera 1, have some more pics coming in from my buddies camera just thought I'd get these up asap.

_Btw was a fun run with you guys out to the wall too, next time I'll cruise my rail with ya, or maybe even my bronco, so you dont have to wait on us..lol

_Anyways, thats a few of the good ones I saw so far, should have some decent video clips, and I hope I got some decent video of the Range Rover hauling serious ass on lap 2 before I had to abandon ship and run for my life. Serioulsy they were flying through the last section before the start finsh, and picked a line NO ONE else had chosen, causing me to run for it LOL.

_These are low res obvioulsy, but if you guys want any of these in high res, lemme know I'll send em to ya. Enjoy and l8r

That white Chevy 1463 in the picture snapped the right rear axle when he landed. The wheel and brake disc fell off and rolled to the side and the truck ground to a halt . Done for the day at mile 5.

Its was great to take the win! :D
But would been better to take it witout Jerrys broken parts.

It was a very tight race up to thet point.

After we stopped to help up-right that Class1Racing.com buggy,
http://www.prospectator.com/coppermine/albums/2008%20Photos/2008%20MDR%20Lucerne%20250/IMG_1107.jpg

We were on the chase by about 6 minutes & then gained on them by two minutes in the next lap, & then in lap 3 they had a problem.

I must admint I was excited & bummed all at the same time when we came upon then & took back the lead. :o

So at that point it was just cruise it through taking it easy with Tom at the wheel in his 1st ever time doing so.

& I must say even though Tom was basically laying back without the pressure of Jerry on our butt, Toms Lap time was only like 6 minutes slower than Than Kens time.

I think Tom might work out as a driver in the future. http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/humm_smilie.gif

I'll have some pics to post shorty. :)

That's how you have to drive a JS against 1450:D. My new motor was running real good and the shocks are getting closer, i have never been able to drive the jeep that hard.

I need to put a fixed yoke on the trans and get a couple new drive shafts. It looks like the ones i have are to long and it broke the tail housing for the slip yoke. I also had a clogged fuel filter that made my wall jump less then spectacular.

This race was just a shake down for the Parker 400 in Feb. It was also my friend Matt's b-day.

The beer bonging was cool, I had to show that the 30 and over crowd can still BRING IT!! The girl would have been more fun 13 years ago;)

Yes that really is old school. Notice in the shot of it in the above post it doesnt have any downbars on the back of the cage, no headrests, questionable diagonals etc. MDR really is a professional organization. At least the beer bongs are plentiful though in the pits.
