That is Tyler Stone. No idea what happened. I know they pulled the front end out (no more 4x4). He wanted to keep running in 2x4, but most of were against that sort of stuff.

Thanks for posting the shots. I remember this race too well. We set fast lap and led until we stopped for a driver change and fuel after the first lap. I spit the front driveshaft off at a 100+ coming across the dry lake before the start finish. When the driveshaft came off it took the corner of the trans off with it. We tried some makeshift repair and sent Watson out to do a lap. I think he went a couple of miles before we lost the trans. As they say, to finish first, first you have to finish. We are still working on that concept.

No other finishers for that race. That was the year it started pouring rain in the afternoon. We also used to do 4 laps!
