OK, the thread about the Chupakabras FI issues and the Millen FJ cruiser electrical issues prompted me to post this new thread. I am still not decided on which one. They both have advantages and disadvantages. Let's hear your opinions. The way I see it so far.
FUEL INJECTION PRO's:
Smooth, once set up, shouldn't have to mess with it, not affected by elevation changes or angles, and I think less prone to issues from dirt or dust.
FUEL INJECTION CON's:
More complicated, more electrical componets, including wiring and computer.
CARB PRO's: Fairly simple design, possible easier trail repairs, could easily carry a complete spare, minimal parts, no electrical parts or computer, wiring , or sensors.
CARB CON's:
More prone to need adjustment, maybe more prone to problems from dirt, affected by elevation and angles.

you need a good carburator, and a good mechanic for that, on our b2, we had carburator, and as soon as we hit any whoop, the engine starts to missfire, so, for us was a nightmare,.

It is all about the fuel injection i have worked race trucks that are both carbed and fuel injected. I would have to go with the fuel injected. Both work great after they are tuned in but I sway toward the fuel injected because after the truck has been sitting for long period or on cold mornings the fuel injected fires right up.

We chased that problem for a long time. I say pick either one, and then stick with it until it works. There are folks out there that do well with both.
How about fuel mileage? Chup, you guys have got to be getting better than 4 mpg. The fuel bill makes the entry fee look pretty reasonable.

we are getting good fuel milage, better than that, at least, 8 to 10 mpg, our little 4.0l completely stock engine, don't suck that much fuel, well, a little more than a regular explorer, those high gears make you rev a little more your engine, but we are ok on that.
we like the smothness of the FI, no need to replace or fix or anything like that for a long time,

hey blanco, you better start saving so we can see you in a pro class, ok,.
.. we have ran before in a sportsman class, and, it's just cheap, you may say, why ran in a pro class if you're not able to get to the finish line?, well, you never know, right, what if you do?, i couldn't live with that.
