I'm in the market for a couple of d-44 housings from an FSJ with a passenger side pumkin. I will need them in So. Cal. as soon as possible.

Chris,

You've broken the front axle twice now, it might be time to step up to something bigger.

Dynatrac has some Pro Rock 60 center sections built for spring under applications like yours. You could get really big tubes (no truss required), Dana 44 or Dana 60 knuckles, and more ground clearance than your Dana 44.

The only dilemma might be the high-pinion issue. Ho close does the front axle's pinion come to the engine now?

I'm talking to a couple of folks now about aftermaket housings. Nice pic of the bronco, is it from a sales brochure or did you photoshop it so that it looks like it's moving?

Ha ha, the Bronco is actually moving. I finished it up on Friday and had John Cappa take some pictures of it for Jerrod's magazine.

I really think a new housing is in order, perhaps an even better option for your truck would be a Spidertrax housing with a 9-inch third member:

That way you would have commonality between your front and rear axles.

By the way Merry Christmas. I'll be flying over your house tomorrow on the way back to Massachusetts.

Please tell Santa to leave one of those Spider deals under my tree. Gift wrapping not necessary.

David:

Are you same David Kennedy of 4WOR fame and now one of the diesel mags?

Yes, I worked for Petersen's 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine for 5 years before taking over as editor of Diesel Power magazine.
