Thanks! It's really turning out great. It should be finished soon and I should also be finishing a full size Bronco, soon thereafter (although that project is much less extensive). Then, who knows, maybe I'll have time to work on my own Broncos! :D

So what your 1st race?

So what your 1st race?

possibly the night race. i really want to redo the front suspension and put my bypass' on before i race it. front end is limited to about 11in travel due to panhard bar being short and coilovers being close to the frame. i think adding the tripple bypass', tuning the shocks and getting the geometry right will put me at the 14in to 15in mark and drastically improve it. it needs it especially now that the back is so good. what a differnece the rear made, unbelievable. i have an 03 avalanche and the bronco actually makes it feel like it rides horrible :D

I ran into 68 Bronco at the San Clemente car show this morning. His Bronco is very nice.Got to talk to him for a while. He had the truck on display.
Hope to see that truck racing in the desert soon.Sounds like there are a few changes to be made, but should be a contender.

front end will be the same at the night race im sure, running out of time. but im serious about wanting you opinion/comparision to a certain well known vehicle :D

Whoa, that housing is sweet! Brakes too! I wonder if the housing will still clear the frame x-member, even with it being notched??

xmember will probably have to be moved back. housing is big.

its from 9infloater.com schreiner enterprises. seemed like the best dealaround for what i needed by a long shot.

working on getting the rest of the parts then shes going in.

Nice, I've talked with them a few times. I got a new 3rd member from them for my stock 9" and planning to go with them for the real deal one when I finish everything else.

do youknow if they do upgrades like billet big bearing supports? i dont think i need afancy 3rd member, but i would like the big bearing suppoort. they seem reasonible. what did you 3rd member end up ruuning? whats in it?

Grimm

Yup, they do big bearing supports, Billet not sure, and i think it was only like an extra $50 but I could be wrong, I did not get one. I only needed something just to get the truck driving with a new gear ratio and keeping the stock 78' housing so I went with just a stock case instead of the nodular, 31 spline spool, 4.88 gears and 1350 pinion and Timken bearings. I think total it was 650. I know they do all the upgrades that I eventually wanted...Nodular case, big bearing suppport, ect. Even with a nodular case, big bearing support it still would be a few hundred bucks less than all other places I found. Got it in about 8 days and dropped it right in. There is a pic over in my build thread. Boulder Racing - Page 5 - Class 3 Racing Forums

We should do a full CNC sheetmetal x-member all dimpled and whatnot... What do you think? I'll be going up to OC next weekend if you're around. I can stop by and we can throw some ideas around. :D

Nice website for the axle, but it's http://www.9inchfloater.com

Is that axle stock width or wider? I know you were talking about that.

68bronco
06-20-2009, 11:27 PM
the new one is supposed to be the same as a mid 70s f100 wheel mount flange to wheel mount flange. same as fullsize truck d44 which eventually i plan on running up front.

Blanco

How much wider is a full sized truck D44 vs the EB D44?

i think its @2in each side. will be going from 10in wheels to 8s which will take 1.5in from the outside. should only be a little wider than it is now measuring from outside sidewall.

looking into what calipers to run and am a little confused.

the place i got my housing ans hubs and rotors uses wilwood superlites.

i looked at superlites and dynalites. the superlights cost more and are larger, but the dynalites have larger pistons availible. the superlites from what i found are all 1.250 and the dynlites go up to 1.750 from what i found. was told the superlites have larger pads though.

my rear master is 1in bore and i dont really want to change it unless i have too, its brand new.

any ideas or experiences would be really appreciated :)

well the plan was to have the truck ready and new axle in to take it out at the night race and put some miles on it. probably not going to happen at this point. im at a stand still after putting axle in and hubs on. i upgraded to 11in rotrs from 10s, but they are still small enough in diameter the calipers amost hit the rim in the mount area. there is also about 1in to 1 1/2in room above the caliper. going to call monday and see if i can get a 12 or 12.5 in rotor.figure might as well get as big as i can.
and im definitely over class3 score width now, needs glass rear fenders.
