I just found, bought a 69 bronco . it was under a collapsed barn. it had moss and about 10 lbs of hornets nest in it. the guy i bought it from told me it ran 10 yrs ago he had put a merlin ford with cleveland heads in it .I took it home put some marvel mystry oil in the motor, rebuilt the holly.Crap it runs .the body is in near perfect shape the dash un cut.and had been drug through k mart with a magnet in tow. I race class 1 and want somthing to haul behind the motor home that i can get in the desert to prerun with . Iam not sure what i can do to it with out wrecking the value > help me out
Thanks Steve

in 1974-1977 i worked at Stroppe. it was in LB until they moved to city of industry. i did know how lucky i was .it took 30 years but i finally have a bronco project. SOOOOO it has a springs ,1in body lift , power & tilt steering
the guy did all stuff they were doing 10 12 yrs ago. the reason it was parked is after the new motor the rearend soon went he was going to fix it .Guess not

Congrats Steve! Great price for a truck like that. I saw you posted over on classic too. Welcome aboard.

BTW - if you worked for Stroppe from 74-77, did you know Brad Searer?

Interesting. I met Bill via email a few months back and had a good phone conversation with him. Neat guy with a lot of memories.

I would love to talk to Bill I have tried to get in touch with him but no luck .I ran into Ben Ford At a motorcycle race years back He was going to pass along my info but??? If you would email Bill ask him when he broke his leg at saddleback in 1974 who took him to the hospital ? Answer Steve Sullivan. Tell him i have even left notes on the door at their house just below rosarito
If you would send him my email sully330@netzero.com
Were you connected to the stroppe guys If you were ever at the shop i was the kid sweeping, cleaning, and the most important job, washing all the vehicles I would have done that for free i got to drive everything from Dan Gurneys pikes peak car to the Broncos and the race cobra It was a great place to work.

Steve: I have Bill's contact info on my computer at work. I'll send it along to you via pm tomorrow.

I don't have any connection to the Stroppe guys other than knowing Willie. I was in the early days of elementary school back when you worked there so I've had to live vicariously through the memories of others from those days.

I can only imagine what a great place it must've been to work. I've managed to talk to many who had the privilege.

Are there other clues to it's Stroppe history that were on it? Cage, susp, axle trussing. I think it'd be cool if a real Stroppe was racing!!

I live just down the road in Bishop and like to come up to Fallon and Yerington
and check out some racing sometime.

There are a couple of things that stick out, the shock mounts in the rear , the small pile of spare parts ,Bumpers tire carrier, steering wheel and tach. i am not certian this was a Stroppe bronco but i do know when you get through all the layers of paint the Stroppe colors are in place .the first repaint was a reddish orange then white. i would like to paint it Stroppe colors or the blue , white and black like LUBEN IND i have a brand on my a@@ from both of them

I took the motor out yesterday. the valves were sticking . there was sticky crap all over the valve train .so i have a little time and just decided to freshen up the whole motor . Besides the sticky stuff the rest of the motor looks brand new. Im looking for a high 9 right now. but i think i will collect the rest of the parts i want and play with it in the mean time

Yah, i freshend up the top end. Added a 750 duel feed double pumper and full MSD stuff . Im having trouble getting the timeing right. i locked out the dist and a have a MSD 6 box all digital . I need to read the directions better The brakes are done and work great . the next thing is to add some aluminum to the fire wall to get rid of all the holes then take the dash and roll cage out to have the body rhino lined and powder coat the cage and dash. i still cannot decide what to do with the suspension. If i can get the front springs right i see a way to put an internal hyd bump in it
