Hi guys,

my dad says he saw a thread on here somewhere for a housing similar to Curry and looked real nice... but was more reasonable.

Any ideas? I did a search but there are dozens and dozens of threads with Ford 9 inch topics in them. I could be looking all day.

If anyone remembers, toss the link my way please?

My rear=end is leaking... so is the race truck :D

Thanks!

dont know what housing from curry your refering to, but i think their extra heavery duty housing for 350 is very reasonable.
however the same housing with a truss added to it for 400 bucks= not so reasonable :(

they went up 70 bucks from when i got mine. guess it was only a matter of time.

Ya thanks... I spent some time on the site today.. poking around. I may just contact them about a full-blown race one. This is the second housing I've gone through - I just don't have enough support.

There was some site "like a currie" that my dad was interested in checking out. Gunna keep looking. Also found a used one on RDC that I'm looking into.

I think he's asking for one that is not a Currie, but similar..
Its probably one of those Circle track parts that Moss seems to mention alot.

I know those always seem cheaper.

you need to talk to Dave Moore, he got a really nice one for this bronco with a truss on it and it was not to bad on the wallet.

Thats probably the one. I was talking with Ron over their the other day about a racing full floater for our application. Great guy, very reasonable prices. I'm 90% sure thats who we're gonna go with in the next few months.

Grimm. Did you end up buying your rear end from Schreiner? If so I wanted to know how it worked out. I'm building a 68 Bronco for the Mexican 1000 and I have the suspension done. I have an 8.8 and I need to change it out. I heard the full floater is the best set up but I don't know much. By the way, did you get a beefed up housing or the kind like he shows?

Thanks.

I did not get it. That money ended up going to some other parts i'm sure. We ended beefing up our stock semi-floating 9" that came with our bronco with a top and back truss. I did end up ordering the 3rd member from Schreiner though, which has worked out fantastic so far. I figured i'd run what I brung so to speak until this thing fails me. If/When i Do get a Full Floating rear end I will definitly spend the extra 150$ for the beefed up , trussed, housing.

A full float set up is the best, safest, toughest that you can get, but an 8.8 may get you through the Norra 1000 if you truss it and drive with a light foot. Your '68 is much lighter than my '78 im sure. There are a ton of aftermarket upgrades to the 8.8, but you may not want to drop a lot of money on an axle that may only be temporary

Okay, so I'm finally making serious headway with the 68 and I want a real good 9 inch. I decided to go ahead and just budget it in so when I'm done I should have a pretty good ride in the Norra. I just finished new c wedges (whatever thsy're called) and radius arm bushings, rebuilt the steering box for the rock crawler set up, new upper and lower ball joints, and with all the cage and suspension fab complete the front is in pretty good shape.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to a reasonably priced trussed set up? I'm learning as I go here, so I'm not sure if I should get a spool, Detroit locker, or...

I sent an e-mail to Schreiner but haven't heard anything. Not sure if he just doesnt e-mail.

Any help would be great. Thanks
