That car was built and raced in thirty days from the day the truck came out of the weeds. I had BFG and thought it would be a good idea to get additional support and hooked-up with Checkers, which required that we bring one of their guys along with us for the race. The guy they gave us was later called by someone who knew him, a "high desert skid mark". We discussed seriously amongst the crew the idea that we were going to duct tape him to a pole, and tell the Checkers that they could have their guy back. When the car broke, they were next to useless for us. They were long gone by the time we got the truck out the next day.

To be fair about the Checkers deal, I understand that they want to support their core members, but if you need help, you just better break near them. It's no different with your own team. If you don't own the truck, there's no guaranty that a guy is going to be willing to go in with race traffic or difficult terrain.

The few times I've been with the Checkers at race's I've never seen them turn anyone away from their pits that needed help.

I'll probably be with the checkers at the Mint. :cool:
