I was just thinking about how it might be fun to get together & put faces to the sites members.
I personally plan to arrive during the day of the 26th & will be heading home the 29th after the awards ceremony.
so we should all meet up for a drink & such.
Maybe we should pick a hotel/casino along contingency to meet up at during friday?
Let me know what you guys think.

You can count me in.
I'm getting there the night of the 25th. Planning on doing the prerun Thursday. I'll be leaving Sunday morning.
There's still a few guys on here I haven't met. Sounds like fun. We can make it the awards ceremony for the 08 Class 3 cup.:D
Anybody else gonna prerun?
Grimm

We're arriving on the morning of the 26th like 11am. I'm down. What time does the pre run start?

What time does the pre run start?
Bummer that I wont be pre-running this year. :(
Because I'm buying a trailer while I'm up there & due to that will be bring my dually to bring it back home.
I was thinking about us all meeting up at one of the casinos during contengency.
blanco, take lots of photos, I havent been to a mint race in years, rory and i will be at a bike race that weekend:)

blanco,take lots of photos,
I sent my Camera into to Canon for repair & I'm told I should have it back in time for this event. :)

How many people do we have that would like to Pre-run together?
& are they gonna let non-racer's (banded) pre-run the course?
flyinbronco
03-05-2009, 07:00 AM
I still don't see an official start time for the pre run on the 26th?
http://www.snoreracing.net/
I'm not sure but I'd doubt they'll let non racers pre run. It will most likely be similar to BITD being lead around the course in a big group.

I remember last year, we just signed off & away we went.
Yet I was wearing a wrist band that they probably saw & they did'nt queston it.
I've never pre-run a race course without at least my co-driver being banded or where I had a media pass.

Things are changing in my plans & now I'm considering bringing Blanco to pre-run the course & would like confirmation that non-racers can pre-run & who might want to do a group run.
We can all be there for each other etc etc... :D
I just e-mailed Don Wall asking for the answer to this queston.

We will be there and good with running with the group.

SO - why would the president of SNORE want to say "yes... sure... non racers are welcome to come out and rip up the course, given all the bullship he has to put up with from the BLM??? just curious!!!! :o)
Not trying to be a jerk here, just pointing out his side of things.

I understand what your saying,
but I dont wanna tow the Blanco (renting a trailer) etc if We cant pre-run.
I wanted to take maggie on her 1st pre-run, so we would not be banded.
I guess if it comes down to it i'll offer my pass seat to a banded racer.

Sounds like 3 at least so far to pre-run. :)

We should have a class 3 cup at the top of the Stratosphere.Three rides.
Big shot to the top of the building!
X scream drops you off the side
Insanity Spins you in circles off the side
Whoever doesn't puke or wuss out gets a class 3 t-shirt!!

I like to consider myself a roller coaster/thrill ride aficionado and I'll tell you the Big Shot ride is pretty damn scary especially at night. I haven't rode the other rides but I'm up for the challenge.

So lets pick a casino at groud level that is along the contingency row to all meet at a certain time.
Do we have a preference?
chuck

We will be staying at the 4 queens but any of the down town places is O.K. with me.

I was thinking maybe setting it up around lunch time so it can be like a Meet & Eat. http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/roflsign.gif
Anyone know of a place with good food downtown?
Blanco
03-13-2009, 07:52 PM
Does anyone remember the place right behind contingency last year?
I remember going in there to use the bathroom & may of gotten a drink?
I remember it having a nice patio sorta feeling? we could sit outside in the patio & not miss any contingency action during the Meet & Greet/Eat.
Still looking for ideas on where to set this at.

Are you talking about where you had to off load the race car for the drive to tech? There was a place there.I just remember the huge BassAle beer on the roof of some restaurant near tech.Remember when Beaver Cleaver climbed into the soup bowl on a billboard to see if there was soup in there? I wanted to climb into the Bass Ale sign,to see if there was beer in there.:D

NO, I'm actually talking about a place that was directly next to where the Official tech of the rig & suits & helmets etc all took place.
I figure if we can do it while still basically being along contingency row where we can still watch the action roll by would be the most fun?
Even if we had to make a Reservation.
Joe Rockhead
03-13-2009, 08:54 PM
There were a few restaurants right along the road there. Can't remember a name of one of them.Tech is supposed to be longer thru Fremont street,I'm sure there are more places than last year to meet up.Need a local to chime in.
Broncodawg
03-13-2009, 10:22 PM
Keep in mind contingency is on Fremont st this year and not last year's street.
Golden Nugget is smack in the middle of contingeny, how about dinner at the buffet, 7 pm Friday after contingency, more like Meet and Graze!!:p
We could make a rez and get a big table.
Make it last years Class 3 awards too!
Let's pick a time and place and make it the title of this thread to get the word out.
Blanco

.
WRONG!
Last year contingency was along fremont st.
I was there & am sure you were too.
We can do dinner..
But I figured being that we will all be there during the day anyways we'll get more people there. http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/m2c.gif
Joe Rockhead
03-13-2009, 11:33 PM
Wasn't tech on Fremont St East? We didn't go under the Freemont experience lights. We hung a right just before the arch with the lights.
Broncodawg
03-14-2009, 08:59 AM
Maybe the street was named Fremont East, but as Joe said, we did not roll down the Main section of Fremont st under the light system.
The problem with doing an awards lunch is that teams might still be going thru contingency and then what? Dinner seems a lot easier for teams to do?
I guess if everyone got thru contingency quick, lunch could work, but if history holds true it might be a late lunch.
There's an idea, do it as a late lunch to allow contingency time, yet not make folks come back for a dinner who aren't hoteling it right there?
What y'all think of 2 PM at the Golden Nugget?
Blanco
03-14-2009, 03:37 PM
OK, your right we did'nt go under the Fremont st experience, But I'm lead to beleave we will this year, Right?
& maybe Dinner might be better?
I figured since we would all be there during the day at Contingency it would be convenient.
but if you guys want dinner instead I'm ok with that, My GF & I will probably be drunk http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/13_4_9.gif by then & you'll have to deal with that. LOL!
I added a Poll to this Thread, So go vote!
Broncodawg

My GF Maggie & I have been looking around from Burbank for a place to Meet & eat near Contingency.
& we think this might be a good place to meet up at
They seem to have a variety of foods so the we have choices & its also a MicroBrewery. http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/13_4_1v.gif
Check it out. http://www.mainstreetcasino.com/dining/triple-7-restaurant-and-microbrewery
Its one block from Fremont st.
Depending on how many of you commit to showing up I'll see if I can make a reservation so we have room for us. :)
They said that we'd have to have at lest 10 people for reservations.
So whos gonna be there & at what time is best for you?
I figure 7pm is good for most of us.
So Far we have 100% for sure arriving is Maggie & I.
& it sounds like Joe & Dawg are interested.
That makes 4, & I'm assuming Grimm would want to meet up with us & if were lucky Raffo & Chuck & the Moss Bro's will go as well as many more! :D
It seems only 3 people have voted on this?
Come on peeps place your vote on the poll & tell us you'll meet up with us.

I'm in along with the Fiance'. Would probably prefer a late lunch or early dinner. like 3 or 4 ish. I'm sure she is gonna be tired of hanging down there all day and wanna spend some QT in the evening. Count me in and when we get a concrete time together I will know more.
Broncodawg
03-20-2009, 09:11 AM
I'm down for whatever time we want to meet up and Geri and maybe her mom will be with me.
If late lunch/early dinner works out best, I'm easy.
Blanco
03-20-2009, 12:02 PM
I'll make the reservations tonight for at least 10 of us...
Please if everyone would post who & how many you'll have with you?
This place said Fridays are their biggest day.
So I wanna make sure we can all sit together. http://bestsmileys.com/eating1/2.gif

FRI 03/27/09 - DRIVER’S MEETING 6 PM - BINION’S GAMBLING HALL
"Binion’s Hotel and Casino Banquet Room, Mezzanine Level. There will be a sign-in sheet for each class. You must either be present or have someone sign in as your representative. No Excuses!. If you do not have a representative there, you will start with a 15 minute penalty."
Due to the 6 pm driver's meeting being at Binions, like to suggest we have the Class 3 Meet'nGreet at Binions at say...4:00-4:30 pm.
Not sure how far Binions is from the restaurant/bar you mentioned Cam, but seems like it'd be easier than going from place to place.
Just a thought.

I'll google them & find what resturants they have & try to make reservations.
I'll set it for 4pm & we can hang out till the Drivers Meeting & then go our own ways.

All good to go! Just got an e mail back from Binion's Food and Beverage Mgr that they can seat 30-40 of us in a back area of the coffee shop and drinks are available right next door at the Bull Pen sports bar. I'll stop in there Friday morning to double check, so Bring on the Mint!
Not sayin' the nice gal I spoke to at Binions is old or anything, but she helped put together the racer packets for the first Mint 400s in the late 60s and now she works at Binions which used to be the Mint Casino!
I told her you'd take her prerunning Cam! HaHa, Not

I just saw this post. I couldn't make this anyway's. I was still trying to make inspections. I was invited though out in the Parking lot but I was still in the process of hooking up my Horn, amber Light, toggles and mounting my rear fire extingusher and triangle reflector. I wish I could have made it. I thought all the class three guys were awsome and so helpful.
