This is Kevin from Yungunz Racing. We are a group of college students trying to get in on offroad racing. We currently are messing around with class 11 vehicles (cheapest). We hope to be able to compete in the class 3 class as soon as possible. No class 3 vehicle has been chosen yet, but we are looking into Explorer/sport's.....Any suggestions of a good starter vehicle for class 3?
We are also working on a webpage.....

TTB Bronco's are cheap & easy to find parts for.

Welcome to the site!
How did you learn of us?

Thanks!!!! I look into broncos.....I'm not sure about TTB though.....Twin Tractor Beam???? maybe.....What is the best way to get started in the class 3 cicuit, besides getting the truck? I found the site by doing a-lot of research of class 3 racing, I actually was looking up picturess of class 3 rigs and saw that one of the pics was from this site...

Yes TTB is Twin Traction Beam.

Check out the TTB forum on my other site.
TTB Talk - The Web Wheeler

I would take the Anger Issues Build way.
He basically made it SCORE legal & then later worried about up grades.
As he started racing, he learned what needed improvement.
Of course Ken is the one that can tell you more about that though.

You can go crazy building a Trophy Bronco But it'll take much longer to get racing & you might lose interest or other things will come up. http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/m2c.gif

How are you going about funding this? Personal funds?

I am currently involved with Formula SAE at my school but I would MUCH rather go the class3racing route and build something that has more than 1" of ground clearance. Are you getting funding from your school? Which one?

I was going to wait until after I graduate and get my engineering degree to start my build but if I could get funding for it and interest at my school I would do it in a second. Let me know what your plan is and keep us all updated!

big broncos are more expensive than a explorer sport,. for start, heavier, rollcage 2" minimum and if you want chromolly, $$, you can build your rollcage with 1.5" dom 120 for a explorer and will pass score tech,. :D:D

just kidding , everybody will defend their rig,.

v8 vs v6 ? wich one is more expensive in long term, :D:D im still kidding, good luck. but listen to fj40, haha.
