I know I posted this before, but it got merged into my other post...
Anyone up for this race in Aug? Maybe we can get a little prize $$ into a pool amongst us all....
I'm getting a little depressed being the #1 finishing Bronco at BITD and SNORE races all the time... :-)

Well thats because the thread focused much more on you than the race & I PM'ed you asking you if you were ok with it, if I remember correctly.
Sorry to make you start another thread But I try to keep the threads focused on the topics as much as possible. :)

V to R "the long way". Gonna be a fun race, and a long 3 days. Nothing like non-stop to Cabo, of course, but never the less.
Having time to wrench each day will be nice.
I'm signed up to be a pit steward for BITD at a different pit each of the three days. Yahoo! Don't know the pits yet.
Anybody else planning on entering?

We'll be there in Class 7100. Really looking forward to it. We did something similar a few years ago when we did the Nevada 1000 and were based out of Tonopah for 3-4 days. Hot, dusty, and tons of fun.

BITD has come out with a rule about racing in sportsman. If you have raced in a pro class in BITD then you cant race sportsman. So if you have then have some one else as the DOR. Pistol Pete had a thing on RDC about getting the TT guys to race sportsman because he didnt like the high entry fee either. So they came out with that ruling. I cant wait for the race , I got co-dog for the first half of day 2-3. Last year we blew the motor at ml. 389 or so just out of top gun. We really want to finish this year. (Sportsman buggy 1824).

Orangebron ran sportsman and ran a good race. He swapped out his transfer case right next to us at rm 921, Pit 7. Hope he finished, don't know.
MaCachren towed him in to the pit with the Raptor race truck. very cool.
Jesse Jones flopped on his side right in front of us and a buddy pulled him back over with his bronco, good fun.
Awesome weekend, too tired to write more now. Will be getting pics from friends camera soon.

Yeah I was thinking the class 3's could run 4400 class? I have to laugh at the rock racers just a little bit! They have been all over the internet bragging about how they beat the 1700 Jeep Speeds on day 1.... I should hope so! They have way more money in those rock rigs with 3" by-passes and coil overs 37" race tires with bead locks and way more horsepower, they should smoke the Jeep Speeds!!

How many of those 4400 class vehicles finished? I think it was sort of strange that they raced anyway.Sort of like having trials bikes race against Johnny Campbell. Two totally separate types of racing.

4400 put on a good show its just something new 5 finished I talked to 2 racers in Bishop while getting fuel. They were bragging about beating the jeep speeds, I thought it was funny. An open class bragging about beating a pretty spec class. with unabody cherokes and short wheel base wranglers.

I talked about them bragging when beating the Jeep Speeds on another site and the rock guys got all mad! The were whining about having too much unsprung weight and not being set-up for desert racing.... If I was gonna take a crawler out in the dezert the front and rear diffs would be the first thing i'd change out! They might not be fast in the desert but they're fast at coming up with excuses...:p:p

We can't find official results yet, but we believe we finished 2nd in 7100. Finished first on Day 1, second on Day 2, and second on Day 3. We hit a big hole just outside pit 4 on Day 2 and broke the steering rack (common problem). I had to jog out with a spare steering rack and a tire and then rode most of the rest of the day. We had no problems on Day 3 other than getting stuck about 50 miles from the finish. We just couldn't catch Rick Doetsch.
15 hr. drive home yesterday - I'm whipped and taking the day off today to unpack and blow the silt out of everything!

Billy: I think I just put two and two together - were you towing an Alaskan camper on a trailer behind your Bronco all weekend?
Todd Z.
Yep That was me with my camper.

Congrats to orangebronco for a strong finish. Looks like if not for the transfer case going bad, you'd have been on the podium.
Wish we could have helped you more at pit 7, but you guys had it covered pretty good. I was the big guy in the BITD staff shirt you pitted next to.
Nice Bronco and chase truck!

yea, not a class 3, but we had a nasty crash on day 2 @ race mile 477. about 1 1/2 mile before pit 4. we were doing about 105mph and the car stepped out a bit and cought a small bush. the rest was all Magic Mountain rollercoaster ride. driver broke his wrist, bruised elbow bone, and slight dizzy spells. i only walked away with a small headache and bruised shins. obviously that ended our race right then and there. crappy pics are from a camera phone.

could have been alot worse! if you look at the upper photo........we ended up in a barrel roll over a hundred yards. we rolled slightly to the left. had we gone to the right we might have hit the power poles......THAT would have been ugly

Yah he finished, Ran that thing hard. I was codriver in a sportsman buggy running against him. He was that rig that we were always either trying to catch or keep behind us. On day 3 he caught up to us as we slowed down slightly around a tight corner to see whats up with the broken down rig . Apparently the broncos brake line had been ripped off so he was slowing down real fast... all of the sudden we are 8 feet farther up the course and all I see in the rear view was orange bronco, That was a real good incentive to Ruben our driver. He did light speed over the hill and down the next canyon. I had to remind him a couple times we had to finish the race, So he ran it clean until we handed over at pit5. He was under the suspision that it was done on purpose. I figured it was a tight corner in the dust. At least he hit us straight. No hard feelings. If he had clipped a rear wheel he would have ended our day. All in all a great time. If we could do it again tomarrow I'd be there.
