well, next weekend an off road race will be held at rosarito http://www.curoffroad.com/ , its a 12.5 mile race course, the race will be a 200, 8 laps 2 heats, so we decide to use the course for some testing and maybe to do this race for preparation for the baja 500, but, problems has come out, that's good for us, the same misfire problems as the 250, so we are working on it, but well, it was a lot of fun that circuit, so here is a little video, ok, thks..:)

Good clip Chup, you have really got the shocks working well. Get that misfire problem fixed! Speaking of carbs, I saw a brand new trophy truck that is using a big block Ford with a Holley dominator carb.

Sweet! Love watching the video clips, Chup! ...AND, although I would rather hear the roar of engines as they race by, I guess if we can have that, the sweet PORN music dubbed in will do! :)

so, how's everybody doing, we have been working on our racer like never before, we start it working the week after the baja 250, well, not all day not all week, but few hours a day, and it looks like it will never end, details after details, things that need to be done, i mean, that need it to be done since last year, we enter the last year baja 500, and mannn, this thing wasn't finished, too many things to work on, things that could and did broke, so, this time we really want and need to get to the finish line, so, we are gonna keep our pace , hope the fjs do the same as the 250, because we don't want to ran alone in the back, we want to have fun, but just the fact that racing is a lot of fun, even if you are just cruising, right?, hope everything works as spected, not just for us but for everybody, so, everybody please do your homework, and don't leave things to the holly spirit, ok, keep on working, and hope to see u all at the finish line, we deserve that, i mean all of us, :D

Hey what happened to you guys?

While we were hunting down the RetroBlazer the next morning you came up on us fast..

We were in the Jeep with the hood up.
Your engine sounded very healthy & it all looked good. :)

But considering the hour I knew you were a DNF, & I was wondering what was the issue or issues?

a lot of things happend to us, first, at race mile, 80 or 90 my bro broke the transmission it took us like 2 hours to replace it, then i had to wait more than 2 hours to go through a silt hill beacuse there were some guys stuck to the neck, that was at race mile 212, that put us another 2 to 3 hours behind, then, about a mile before checkpoint 4 we ran out of gas, we manage to keep going though check 4 (6:12am +-) but a few feet after check4 the engine completely die, that put us anothe 3 hours behind, some locals went to ojos negros to buy some fuel for us and that was how me manage to get to the finish line, late buth we don't care, we made it, we arrive to the finish line at 10.00 am, close. but happy, very happy, well,
.\

.. i will tell the whole story later with pics and some short video clips of the race, thks to everybody who help us out, thks,.

here is a quick analysis of the time frame, ours , right,

by checkpoint 1 it show us 1:58:00 behind, thats the time it took us to replace the tranny, checkpoint 1 was at rm86 and we replace the tranny at rm77, i drove from there, from check 1 to check2 we lost and additional 12 minutes on moss bros, that's from rm86 to rm197 more than 100 race miles, i was very careful with the chupakabras, no more spare trannys, haha, well, by then we were 2 hours and 12 minutes behind the leader, by rm 212 we had to wait almost 3 hours to go through a silt hill, too much cars stuck there, read that dylan got the same dosis, well, we fill the fuell cell at rm 245, with 32 gallons we thought that we could get almost to the end with that, but, we didn't, we start it to ran out of fuel a few miles before check 4, the engine was misfiring but we manage to keep on going, so we got through check 4 , by that time we were 5 hours and 34 minutes behind, that was at 6:20am, 1 hour and 40 minutes before the finish line close, we cross the check 4 and just a few feet after the check 4 we ran out of gas, full stop, there were some locals there, and they give us some food, some drinks, by that time i had more than 14 hours on the racer, they didn't had any spare fuel, i manage to take a liter of fuel from one of the cars they have, but not enough to keep going, we thougth that that was it, our chance to make it on time, so time went by, but another local arrive and he said that if we want he could go to ojos negros to buy some fuel for us, i had 200 pesos, so, he went to ojos and return about an hour after with 5 gallons of fuel , so we arrive at 6:20am and departure from there almost at 9:am, we were just 35miles from the finish line, we didn't knew the closing time, but, we just want it to take it there, even if it was close, it was for us and all of our friends there, so we keep going, oh man, those last 35 miles were horrible, silt beds every 5 miles or less, then, a few miles after we saw the tomatoes guys, they were taking a nap under the shadows of some trees there, we stop because there was a silty hill, and the leveler of the transfer was broke, we had to shift manually under the truck, to set the 4x4, a few minutes later we saw BLANCO, we knew that he was looking for raffo, we already give some details before to the crew of raffo, to let them know were they were broke, and to finish , we arrive at the stadium, in time to see a softball game, haha, there were some other late finishers there, and more people keep on arriving. ..

... a quick analysis, we lost about 8 hours, so, 22:27:45 minus 8, that put us on a great finish, well, that's not a accurate analysis, right, but works for us, to see how competitive our racer could be, from rm 245 to the finish line, we push it hard, and the chupakabras performed well, i don't know how hard the moss guys push their racer, right, so, it was a great race, congrats to them again, .

That is really quite a job on getting that tranny replaced during the race, my hat is off to you. My crew gets down on their knees and prays before every race that we NEVER have to change a tranny on that black pig. I would have to scare up a second crew just to deal with the transfer case!

Way to persevere!

i think i pray too much for not to have a misfiring engine that i forgot about the tranny, haha, when i heard on the radio THE TRANSMISSION IS BROKEN, WE LOST 2ND GEAR , i knew that we had a spare, but, i didn't thought that we could replace it on time, after reviewing the photos and those videos it took us about 1 hour and 20 minutes to replace it, 8 hands were need it to put back the tranny and the transfer, :D . the whole race teach us a lot, it showed us how we are doing, i did too much enphasis on the mechanical things that forgot the logistics, right, so, u never stop learning, next time :)
