Running a 4bbl dont know which one yet so if you have any suggestions
for a 351W w/ edelbrock intake manifold it would be greatly appreciated...

We have never had any issue's w/ a mechanical but our motor has only
had a 2bbl carb. What are some good electrical pumps?

I ask because we are getting a estimate on our wiring and they want to
know if we want a electriacal pump.

Well I dont race, But from my history of street cars, I'd have to say Mech.

They just always seemed more reliable.
then again fuel pumps are small so if you go electric on a Racer, Carry a spare. http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/m2c.gif

Shaner17, who's handling your wiring? Mine's is a mess and I'm definitely going to need a good shop that can handle my rat's nest of a wiring harness. I'm going to replace the entire harness.

ours it's fuel injection, so,.. you can find good electrical fuel pumps here, www.summitracing.com :) you just need the low pressure fp, .

I think you answered your own question. If you have never had any issues with your mechanical pump, why would want to go to something else? A 4 bbl is only going to require a tiny bit more flow than a 2 bbl. I have had nothing but trouble with aftermarket (cheap) electric pumps, and none with OEM type pumps, electric or mechanical. Having said that, find out what Raffo is running and buy whatever he is NOT using! He's been fighting that same fuel problem since I've known him. Chris, is there some kind of fuel line problem? It sounds like the suction side of the fuel line is kinked, leaking, getting sucked flat, plugged or floating to the top of the fuel cell. He's tried a couple of different hi quality pumps, so it can't be that.

As far as carb, if you are already using the Edelbrock stuff, use what they recommend in that application. Carb, heads, cam, manifold, cid, compression, headers and torque converter all need to work together. Then as soon as you go through that first set of whoops, all that goes out the window, just like Chupa talked about, and you wish you had fuel injection! Your fuel bill will go through the roof, and your oil smells just like fuel addittives when you change it.

A friend of mine that works at a wiring shop in San Marcos(I believe its JC wiring) and the guy Jeff who is doing all my fab work is going to be start on the wiring where the bronco is know.

If you have any questions give Jeff a call at (760)727-3334, they have both wired a few race trucks, pre runners and there own truck.

im going to stick with the mechanical fuel pump and if I have any problems I can always switch over.

I was looking at the Edelbrock off-road carb, does anyone know any good carb mechanics that can fine tune these? I know its not going to run like
a fuel injection truck but we can at least tune them up to do the best to keep the fuel in the bowls.

You might consider running the mechanical pump, but going ahead and installing an electric as backup. Fuel will flow through the electric, so if your mechanical fails all you do is hit the switch for the electric and keep going.

I was dead set on running carb for our first race -- we tried the Holly off-road, but ended up with a Q-jet. I felt like I could always make it home with a carb if I had problems in the middle of no where. Well, after 1 race we're going with EFI!! :D Sputtering on the whoops and inclines sucks! and our MPG was horrible.

Just my 2 cents --

100% Agree with u, if you had those problems with your carb's, with efi all those problems are gone forever.

ive been in a few trucks w/ carbs and some work some dont but if you have a fine tuned carb and keep it clean you can make it work in the whoops.

I would love EFI but thats not in our budget right know, Ive ran carbs in buggies and have had no problems nor w/ this bronco in the past, wait till you see me flying down shell reef expressway listen to that exhaust flowing puuuuuurfectly.... cant wait:cool:

Anyone else out there run carbs, I know the Moss guys do, Anger issue's?
