3 speed or 4 tranny

So I have a th400 and a 700r .I know the th400 is stronger but Iknow I can beef up the 700r to handle a decent amount of HP . I know that gear selection will be diferent for each .this truck will NOT be driven on the hiway . Is there any advantage to having OD offroad?:confused:

If you're not running it on the highway, use the TH400. Less expensive to build, set up, install, stronger, etc., etc. The 700R4 is great if you have long stretches of highway travel in a street rig because of the OD. I have one in my Bronco and really like it.

I cant imagine using OD offroad unless you have 6:50 gears. 2nd gear gets probably 90% of the use.
