What do you guys use & why?
What makes you happy when it comes to a brake controller?
I like the looks of this one, but wonder if its over kill?

Happiness is working trailer brakes, so the trailer doesn't try to pass you!
Have had a variety of them in different rigs and they all have been simple to use and worked well. I have a tekonsha in the MH that works as well as any Iv'e had.

Yeah I've used Many of them myself, & they all about the same but I wonder about the reliabilty of them..
When their working the all do the same basic job.
But I love my Centurion & was thinking of buying only the best for this rig.
So I had to ask.

It is not usually the brake controller that fails, it is the lack of maintenance or abuse to the trailer brakes that cause them to fail.

I'm not familiar with that model but I do have a Tekonsha Prodigy that I'm very happy with. I can't recall the model that was in my truck when I got it, but it never worked right - the brakes were either all the way on or off. My dad tows a 5th wheel travel trailer and also a gooseneck w/his tractor on it and he says the Prodigy is the best one he's used as well.

I will have to agree on the Prodigy, when I had my 2004 F250 it worked great towing my 6k lb. trailer. I traded up to a 2008 F350 and it came with a built in brake controller which works ok. The Prodigy is a nice unit and works very well.
