the headers really improves the performance of your engine or just looks better with them?
we are going to install the headers to our chupakabras tomorrow, a friend bought a ford ranger and his engine had headers, so, we swap our stock manifold to his ranger and the headers from his ranger to our racer, haha, so..
some people says that there is no difference between them, i mean, in performance, hp increase or something, i don't know, what's your experience with them?

Yes headers will add power! & noise!
You might have to keep an eye on the bolts that mount them because its not uncommon for then to lossen up from time to time.
& I'm sure you will notice some difference from the seat of your pants in power.

cool, will see, this weekend we are gonna take it for another test, ..
i want to make sure that there is no more EFI related problems,
well, i found this info about headers..
Header vs. Stock Manifold - A header will remove exhaust gasses much more efficiently than a factory cast iron manifold. The design of a stock manifold is a cramped design and causes restriction and gas to bottle up in the cylinder. A quality set of headers has individual tubes for each cylinder that are bent in a manner that keeps the diameter consistent from the flange to the cylinder.
Headers vs. Heat - Headers will greatly reduce engine temperature. The individual tubes or primary pipes create a scavenging or suction effect, which draw the exhaust gasses out. By allowing the hot exhaust gasses to escape more efficiently heat build up will be reduced. Lowering the temperature of the cylinder and the combustion chamber creates a denser fuel charge and there for allows your engine to create more power.

Yet headers will also potentially raise engine compartment temps...
because due to their thinner material they release heat more than the thick manifolds would.
But power wise headers, are a better bet! http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/m2c.gif

Has anyone had any success with Thermo tape on headers? I know they are used for hot rods but I'm not sure if they've been used on off road rigs.

My 1st thought is that on Off Road it would get soaked in mud & water & such instead of what it was originally designed for...
It might still be ok,
But I wonder if that wrap would hold up to mud/dirt/water/etc that would be involved with off roading? http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/shrug.gif

you might try ceramic coated headers the coating keeps the heat down and keeps them looking nice and rust free.

Yeah thats what I'll do when I get my headers..

Works well to provide additional insulation, but will cause the headers to rot quickly.

you also want to wrap them top to bottom so that in case you develop some kind of fluid leak (other than water) it will not get trapped in the wrap and ignite.
