OK maybe I am a rock but I read the rule book sticky and did not find my answer. Could a Explorer sport run a V8 and be Class 3 legal?

I would say yes.
Because explorers were available with a V8.

The only time a v-8 showed up in an explorer it had an
A arm front end. I know the Mercury version had a v-8 option as well. Personally, I say put a 347 in. or whatever a 302 expands to easily.

That's why I was asking. Because you can update to any year Explorer but what if the motor was only offered in the 4 door and not the sport?

Yeah, this is where is gets sticky. Personally I think it would be nick picking not to allow this combination, but some of folks tend to bitch a lot. When the rule book was last redone, it seems to have taken away the ability to update and backdate through a model. Like the Jeeps for example, they can't get a v-8 into a newer Jeep even though early one's had them available. I know this doesn't help, but I say build it.

The two door Sport & four door both came in the same body style at the same time didn't they?
