Anyone else a little nervous about the square tube coil bucket mounts?
Great to see a TTB racer in the works, but hope you are also planning on getting rid of the drop brackets on the TTB arms. Racing abuse will take it's toll on an underbuilt front end in no time.
This is not to say I don't wish you well in your build and hopefully others far more knowledgeable than I will chime in with ideas to help you out.

Greg, I think they are using them as spacers, to hold the buckets out in plane while they fab what eventually will be there. I hope......
I may be going out on limb here, but I feel that I know the mental aptitude of the misfits that are bringing this project to the site, and will withhold judgment until it progresses a bit further..... If correct in my thinking, they have questionable approach, in that, they tend to bring some of the ugliest things I have ever seen to an event and win. Known in the tough truck world and other arena stuff.
This is a group of guys that will take a Buick station wagon to Demo derby, against a bunch of Chrysler Imperials, and walk away with the trophy. They tend to approach a vehicle,s in anything they do, as event disposable items. Reclaim the parts that lived and start anew.
Another thought on this thread is, it is most likely directed at myself. As I have had this discussion with certain individuals a few times on the concept of a ttb EB as a prerunner.
So don't take my pointed remarks at the misfits as inflammatory, more like good natured ribbing of the socially inept, held to a different level of proffessionalism.
If I'm wrong on who this group is, I may owe someone an appology. I think not, and feel there is a reason that the pictures are cropped as close as they are. We'll see as things progress, or I make it back home to do further field investigation.

But do they know you?

I don't care what they say Tazz, you have the most colorful way of stirring the pot I've ever encountered. You need to write a book one day. I should have known they were just mocking up the frontend. Gotta love another class 3 build.
Tazz, did you get the 540 screen cover I mailed you?

Yes I got the cover. It is back on the shelf up north at the shop.
And thanks for the complement Greg,
If I'm going to stir or ??? I try and put my best foot forward. Stooping to vulgarity, short snip it or e-tough guy on the net, feels like "short coursing" to me. You're only cheating yourself out of the mileage you could enjoy on the way to the finish, or the possiblity of a new colorful nickanme.

thank you for your concern broncodawg. Tazz is right about the tubing just being a spacer, it will be built hell for stout, i will be fifteen to twenty feet in the air alot. it will be at the mint for a prerun vehicle.

Looking forward to meeting some fellow misfits at the Mint and after thinking about that spacer it dawned on me that your likely lengthening the ttb arms and your fabbing the coil cups outward to match the arms.
Other than coin, why not go coilover?

Close Greg, but I think they are working it the other direction. The ttb stuff is staying stock width, only it is now under an EB so the frame is narrower. Is my view of what I'm seeing in the pictures.
That looks like a cool project, it seems that anything is possible if you have the mean$.......... and a TTB.
Welcome to C3R.

It is under a 66 frame and as far as coilover's if this one works out the next one will be who knows it mite get raced may 12 and go to the scrap yard. the next day.

EB frame is quite a bit narrower than the FSB. Thanks.

Broncodawg i hope these pictures answer some of your concerns about the spring buckets. The misfits have been busy this week and we finally made some progress over the weekend. I will be posting more pictures soon.

Yes keep them coming, I very interested now.
That didn't take long. Someone has some explaining to do. It's always in the fine detail and small slip ups that give things away.
I'll let you guys choose when you tell the rest of the world, but someone better get on the phone soon. ;)

It bettter not be the red one, I almost had that thing fixed again when I was up there. If it is you guys are going to owe me another EB.  Lets see that will 2 in the last 4 months... the 67 half cab you swapped while I was away last time, to pick up the 3 tubs for body parts. Now the part runner. I know I said whatever it takes to keep the racer going, but have some heart. It's a good thing I brought the yellow one down here. :p You cannibals are not getting your hands near it.

Im pretty sure according to SCORE Class 3 rules your bronco isnt class 3 legal. They state that "Suspension must retain the original design & concept (A-Arm, MacPherson Strut, I-Beam etc.) & all primary spring systems must retain the original concept ( Leaf, Torsion Bar, Coil, etc.) that was delivered on the year chassis that is in use"
seeing how your bronco came with a solid axle from the factory you have to run a solid axle like the moss bros to be legal :o

We appreciate your comments and have been waiting for this to come up. The great thing about the way the SCORE rule book is written, it leaves slivers of loop holes in the writing for interpretation. Just like every other sactioning body out there, be it SCORE, NHRA, and others. We plan to push the very limits of the rules, and feel we have viable argument from our interpretation of the rules. There are rules for Suspension and different rules for front axels. It all comes down to your interpretation of where suspension ends and front axle begins.
We have also seen that it is up to the Class itself to protest, to get a determination on rules. Score does not tech for class specific rule enforcement, but for safety. Is it in the spirit of the rule… well that has already been beat up by others before us, with a viable argument in defense of the build we will push forward. If and when we enter it in a race, it will be up to our competitors to protest it. We feel this is well within the spirit of some of the Class 3 builds that have been built as of late and are winning. You never know when the rules will change just enough to take it from almost to definitely. If it’s almost then it is a prerunner, if not then it will race.
Follow the build for what it is, and when it gets enter in a race well….. There is a process in the rule book that let us all have a say.
