I just rounded up a 9" from a f150. 31 spline semi float. I was just wondering if a full float conversion should be considered mandatory for reliability or if a low Hp lighter weight rig might get by with the semi float axles for a while. I would love to have the currie axle that the new FJ is sporting, but it isnt going to happen any time soon. I was planning on adding a truss and paking spare shafts.

Many, many people get away with semi floating axles. The stock classess must have them. Where I come from, real race cars have floaters, so it was mandatory for me. I raced roundy round cars for a long time with stock axles, broke and wrecked a lot of cars with them, and just never want to go back.

we ran the semi for a little over a season with no axle problems. BUT - we were only laying down 180hp with 33X10.5's. we ran the currie 31 spline axles and a 5.11 gear for our jeepspeed.

My Future Class 3 '90 Bronco will be running a semi 35 spline currie with arb.

& the way I see it I will keep the OBA charged & ready to hit the ARB switch when needed & hope that works for me...

I already spent way too much on my Trick Currie 9" that I hope its enough.. :o

Yet when I get to Race ready I might add a Front ARB as well just in case... ;)
