I'm down in El Cajon trying get my Suburban North tomorrow. I am trying to find an early 14 bolt yoke. New or used. I have cash in hand. It turns out that it was a worn yoke that has been causing my busted trans woes over all these years. The free rear end with the offending yoke has cause me more mechanical grief than all my racing combined.

Sorry I can't help with the yoke Chris, but I keep hearing about a 4x4 junk yard down that direction that has anything and everything. I'll see if I can find out where it's at this morning. What about the yoke is worn? The splines? I ask because I think I may have a similar issue.

The tangs that locate the u-joint were worn and I don't know about the splines, but I would guess that they are bad as well because it took very little force to get the pinion nut off.

I picked up the yoke at Hwy 67 this afternoon. Now leaving El Cajon in the Sub with 2 and 4 gear working.

Made it. After I cleared the Grapevine, a 4,000 ft.+ pass north of LA, I could finally breathe, and pulled off the road. I slept a couple of hours in the front seat until I woke up freezing, then finished the drive a couple of hours ago.

Hahaha, seemed like there were puddles of oil everywhere by the time we were done. Stumbling through Loreto at God knows what hour, looking for a hotel room!! Haha The next morning's Start made it all wothwhile. Epic!

The start that day was a relief, but the finish was awesome. Huge rollers that were forty or fifty feet deep for the last mile. We were just sailing.
I am privledged to have had a group of guys that all gave their best effort, and because of it, I had one of the most outstanding events of my in life.
