Being that I just started a thread asking about Race suits & such. http://www.class3racing.com/showthread.php?p=2051&posted=1#post2051

I thought I'd ask again about wreck stories...
How many of you ever wrecked & caught on fire?

How much did you staying safe really count on the fact that you were wearing the required safety gear?

I'm not trying to say how its not needed, just curious as to how bad some of you may of had it.

haven't find the video yet, have to replay some tapes to find that part, but well, after a wreck, like the one we had, the adrenaline its pumping so high that the first thing that comes to your mind it's fire, you turn off everything, untie your seatbelts and jump from the truck like if it was on fire, even if there is not a single sign of smoke or fire,...we jump of the truck an ran uphill like a crazy mf.. just to tell you that we climb in the opposite direction on wich we fall, i mean, we rollover from one side of the hill, and we ran uphill on the other side, we realize that after seeing another truck going by the road from where we fall, we just look each other like, :D  wtf,, ....
ps, forgot to mention that it was completely dark, no moon at all.

So how many times did you roll going down that hill?

& what happened that put you there?

the total distance was like 60 yds, so, it felt like it will never stop, i don't know, 4 to 6 times, if you have google eart, enter this direction 31° 2'10.16"N 115°50'58.52"W at the FLY TO, that's the exact location where we land, based on the rally logger data,
and what happend?, mm, well, the conditions were like this, that happens after we climb the simpson hill, it was dark, no moon at all, we were ok by that time, you could only see what your lights were illuminating i only saw bushes on both sides, so, , we were not aware that were on a side of a cliff, your'e very focus on the road that you don't think was on a side, so, in the middle of the road was a deep tire groves, the ones that every body lefts, so, to not get stuck, or to not hit the differential i got close to the right side of the road, but it was to soft, so the right front tire got stuck, it pull my to the side, i step on the brakes to a full stop,:) so, i engage the 4x4, and put it on reverse, didn't try to go forward to avoid getting stuck seriusly,, so, as soon as i hit the gas and step of the clutch,:( the rear of our truck slide in to the right, that was just a fraction of a second, y step on the brakes, quickly, but, the truck start it to slide to the right, in slow motion, slide slide, and then it start it to go in two wheels, i thought that thas was it, that the truck was going to rest on a side, but, for sorprise of us, it start it to rollover once and twice and keept going and going at the first roll the lights went off, at the second roll it was to fast that our helmets almost got off of our heads, y grab my helmet pretty hard, i was just thinking on not to loose it, on every roll i was just hoping that the rollcage to hold on, and it did, after 4 to 6 rolls it land it on 4 wheels, as soon as it stop, i ask my co d ARE YOU OK, i ask him 3 times, until he response, IM OK,, :D ... the rest i already told that part, :D

ps.. forgot to mention that we were 2nd by that time, we were waiting in line behind the moss bros at the simpson hill.

How did u get out of there?

chupakabras

it turn out that we were just about a mile from a checkpoint, so, we stop other drivers for help, because our radion antenna was gone, so they help us , and we walk to the checkpoint, they said that they saw some wird lights, that was us rollin over :D :D :D , well, we got out of the site with them, they give us a ride to ensenada, we come back the next day, to see what we could do, but, we didn't got the right equipment to pull off our chupakabras, the bushs were so high, the road up was pretty narrow, there was no space, the i beams on the chupakabras broke in two, the four tires were blown out, so, we toke apart everything, from engine to the single wire, we only left the body and rollcage, it was imposible to fix, we were like 20 guys, so it took us a day to do that, i couldn't help that much because of my hand, it hurts preety bad, and that was it, the body of our early chupakabras lies there. we found there a lot of pieces from a hummer, the people told us that the year before a hummer went down too, but they had a lot of chase trucks and they were able to pull it off from there.
