well first of all i wanted to know if score would let me race a four door explorer. It meets all of score's rules and regulations for a class 3 but the wheel base is about 4 inches over. Do you guys think that i can still race it. Because i know that if they dont take it as a class 3 then they'll bump it up to a class 7. So if anyone knows about that i'd appreciate some help. Also i tried my explorer on some whoops and it just bounces too much on the back im scared that it might flip. Should i adjust the shock's rebound or do i have to get some national springs?

This sounds very familiar..... but;
1.- what springs and shocs do you have now & at what angle?
2.- what´s the setup in the front?
3.- are you using limiting straps?
this are just a few things that can affect the rebound part, any more info you can give us???
You could relocate the rear axle 4" towars the front, but you have to run it by Savage, his word is the law.;)

my explorer is a 94 an it has the stock leaf springs running on king shocks and a bumpstop and in the front i have a 2.5 coilover and a bumpstop. Yes, the back and font have limiting straps.Im not quite sure what the angle is on my shocks but i would say a 45 degree angle. I know they arent pointing straight down but i dont know their exact angle.

well.. i'm at work right now and my rulebook is laying beside my pc at home, but, i think the wheel base has to be stock +/- two inches. so if it's four inches to long, even bringing it in two inches will still leave you too long. not sure how sticky SCORE is on the rules, like FJ said ... call Savage up on it.

I suggest diet & excersize. http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/HistericalSmiley.gif
Actually my Bronco use to buck alot through the whoops, so I had the rear shocks re-valved & its feeling alot better now.

45 degrees!!! yikes. i dont think they are at this angel. and if they are, well there is a good starting point on your problem. there are many factors on why it could buck. for example: stock springs. but even this can be controld with some valving of the shocks. not an easy answer to an easy question. you can try this though...............
when you hit a bump and your truck bounces hard in the rear....did your truck...
A: the rear end hit the frame hard before it bucked up?
B: the rear end did not hit, but the rear end bucked anyway?
this is the basics. now you know,
A = not enough compression and / or too much rebound
B = too much compression and / or not enough rebound
this is only a staring point. getting a truck dialed in will not happen quick. ask many racers how many test sesions were taken before they felt good about thier car. hope this helps

too much bouncing in the back, you said that you have stock leaf springs,(that means just a few inches of wheel trave); not even with a great valving of your shocks your'e gona be able to go easy on any whoops, the problem is that you don't have to much wheel travel on the back, so, if you have your shocks to hard on compression it will bounce a lot, if you have your shocks to soft, they will hit the bump stops to hard that it will bounce, so, go high, go with deavers or national springs, that will solve your problem.

Yes, and try to do it before you revalve your shocks, or you will end up spending twice in the same thing, as the long travel springs will/could change the way the rear suspention works.

yeah i agree with everyone above ...
but what blanco said about changing one thing at a time is a GREAT idea ... that's one of the best ways to dx. problems as well as to learn what specific parts can or don't change the way your rig behaves.
i would start with the stock leafs though

that will make such a difference that you wont believe it, we ran to many times with stock leaf springs, once we change those to deavers, man, we never thought that our racer was capable of performing that way, wheel travel, that's it, after that, well a good setup on you shocks,

Which racing series is it that requires class 3's to race with the top on. I am wondering if I should keep the top that I stripped off the racer, just in case I decide to run any races in the series that requires it. I doubt it would hold up though, anyways.....?

FYI there even some Sanctions that want you to run a factory front Bumper..
Thats why Raffo has his factory front bumper still mounted..
so PLEASE to all potential racers!
PLEASE make sure to read closely into the detail of what ever you wanna run & learn to understand the rules to your advantage. It will allow you to run more than just SCORE.. :)

BITD wanted you to run with the top ON in the defunct class 3000. That was their official word in 2000. I heard that guys with Broncos had a heck of a time keeping them on. They also wanted you to run a stock front bumper, just as Blanco mentioned. If you run the Safari (pre runner) class, you don't have any restrictions, other than the usual safety stuff.

This is our third season with the original top still attached. "Knock on wood" it is still on tight.

i think score would put you in class 7 because basically it is a class 7 with a roof.......
