The image etched in my memory of the KIA is the 95 Baja 1000. I am sitting at El Arco waiting for the bike I'm supposed to ride (that is 12hrs late) and the KIA comes around the bend. The front wheel comes off, passes it up and bounces down the ravine. Im not sure who was driving I dont think it was Skilton. The driver was all smiles still even though he just lost wheel and hub parts into the canyon.

The driver was likely one of the Cook brothers. I think they were former class 5-1600 champs before undertaking the Kia. I was there with Glen Harris in Skilton's rental Grand Cherokees chasing a team of Japanese in my first Baja 1000.

That may have been who it was. I remember he commented it was a last minute deal getting to drive and he was surprised at what a great fun little car that was to drive. Should find some of those old KIA commercial clips to post up here. Those were pretty funny.

Memories! I came in on the quad, and was thinking... "What the ****? Why are you still here? What happened to Joe???" ...
Aaaahhhhh yes, the bad old days before we could afford radios and waaaaay before sat phones!

Strange..... I came home because I have to work tomorrow, But..... my Step son is racing the 24 hour race at Glen Helen & its weird to me how they run no radios or GPS tracking or any of that stuff.
I understand why, but seems funny being I'm so use to the truck buggy world.
