Update # 1 on Baja Pits for Free Pre Running pit stop.
Dated 5/16/07 1200hrs PST
Baja Pits is holding two, free, pre run pits, one location each weekend that pre running is open.
They will be located someplace off of Hwy 3, south of Jamu on the course, most likely in the Valle T surrounding area? It will not be any where near the coast or Hwy 1.
So far, over 60 racers have called since Monday, saying they want to camp out at whatever location is picked.
Please contact Carlos if you know for sure you will stay the weekend with him. He needs to pick a large enough space hopefully that isn't in town like last years Baja 500 was (across from the Pemex Station).
60+ racers is close to 25 or more vehicles for the weekend. If you have somebody who can hang out for the weekend, bring them along and give them food to eat and drink. Watching that many vehicles with a small crew will be tough or impossible.
At previous free pre run pits (06 SF 250, 06 Baja 500, 06 Baja 1000 and 07 Baja 250) only the 06 SF 250 and 06 Baja 1000 pits had enough parking room for more than 10 vehicles.
Carlos can be reached at work by calling 619-596-8033 or you can call me up until Friday morning at 10 am. Keep it short and sweet please.
