I’ve found some time to write an introduction, finally.
My name is Todd Durdella and I live in Orange, CA. I am a Mold Maker (die-cast aluminum) by trade and have been for fifteen years. About a year ago the company I worked for shut its doors and forced me to make some decisions. I opened my own mold shop in Corona with a partner. This has allowed me the freedom to spend more time on my first love; fabrication and design. I am down the street from Allied Offroad, a neighbor of Write Trans., and a block from Kartec and Mose Built so I have plenty of inspiration.
I’ve been fabricating for myself and my friends for about twelve years; mostly prerunners, custom lifts, etc. Recently a friend asked me to build a custom long travel Rhino set-up and since I always build jigs for these types of things I figured that when I’m done I’d offer the kit to the public as well. This is why I started www.151FAB.com; so far I’m only using the website for the e-mail address. It’s not that I like the Rhino craze, I think its ridiculous, but there's a huge market there. I also build accessory racks and I have a jig for extending and/or lifting TTBs from 1 to 6 inches in any direction.
My Bronco project is in it’s infancy but the plans are for a sportsman class/prerunner with 4+ beams, C-Overs and bypasses up front and a linked rear with a mezzanine setup. I’m going to try to make it so that I can bolt on a floating leaf in the rear and pull the coils if I want it class3 legal. Of course big plans like this tend to take too long and you forget what the original plan was, so we’ll see what happens.
I’ve never raced offroad, but would love to some day and if I had my choice I’d race class3. The reason I like class3 is because of the history behind the vehicles that race this class, especially the Bronco. On my very short list of thing to do before I die is to race Baja in a Bronco! In the meantime maybe I can crew for someone at a local race once I get settled into my new life as the father of a little girl; Abygail Grace is due on 7/17/2007.
