Blanco and I had a discussion that led to the subject of pit support groups/clubs. The list I came up with was basically broken down to three types of groups. The Class specific such as Class5coalition, the open clubs such as fairpits and bajapits, and the manufacturers such as BFG and Honda. So what are some others and have any of you had any experience with them?

Here are the links to those I mentioned:

Baja Fools
I think you have to belong to Alcoholics Unanimous to join them!
And be able to pit in a grass skirt.

BAJA FOOLS: This wild group of Baja maniacs has been pitting the off-road desert racing world since the early days. Led by Noel, "The Head Fool," this crew is in town supporting Team Riviera. Look for this crew with their party tent, Christmas Lights, 2-Stroke blender and Nitrogen Powered Trophy Truck Jack!!!

I think thier gonna be at the Baja Legacy Celebration. http://race.off-road.com/race/article/articleDetail.jsp?id=248702

I have some buddies that have a pitting club ("open") called Team Locos Mocos: www.locosmocos.com. Good group of guys and they know how to party.

I was part of a group called Chasepit for a few years. We've recently disbanded and most of the gang will be providing pit support for SMD Racing and their racing efforts.

Mainly Naugle. And I believe Curtis Guise is a member? Have met Koenig. Also met some others at various times at various races. Met Chaos Nicole a few times too.

Sorry - don't know all you guys' crazy names :)

Toddz69, I was with Jr & Poolman at the 500 we set a pit in Erendira (beach), our guy came in #6 (not bad) you should make plans for next Oct
to come down to El Golfo for the next PRO race, so we can meet. Last year we had a blast (ask Jr or Poolman) the best thing about this race is that they run like 8 miles on the beach great for a 4x4 SUV, it's a great race to bring the family, check it out http://www.prodesertracing.com/

I may just do that. I need to come down for one of the PRO races. I'm a fan of what Dan is trying to get going. Jr. and Poolman have been workin' on me for awhile to come down for one.

We used Mag7 last year as a supplement to BFG. They splashed us once, and changed a tire -- gave us some Red Bull, fixed our GPS. Seem like a good group. We'll use them again this year.

I'm a Checker and we are discussing the possibility of pitting for a few select non-members for the 1000 for a fee (like $1500). The club support network is outstanding and includes the best radio relay in Baja (ever try to get airtime on Weatherman mid-race?) and fully equipped pits manned with experienced mechanics and safe fuelers. When it comes to pit support, you get what you pay for. The Chase Pit organization is (was?) also top notch.

Of course a cheaper way to get full Checker pit support is to put a Checker member in your race car!
