Well since others are doing it I figured I'd go ahead and into myself.
My name is James Flores, I'm 23 and live in San Diego (Poway actually) with my fiance.
I grew up going out to the river with my family every easter break and all sorts of other little camping trips through out the year. Now that I'm older I've been dragging my buddies out there and getting them hooked on the dirt nation too.
My first vehicle was an 86 bronco II which I bought when i was 16 with the full intention of hitting the trails with it. Of course things snow balled fast and got out of control. An engine swap here, tranny swap there, etc, etc and before you know it i'm in way over my head:( . With a little budget and the complications of typical life (and the wifey...:p ) the trucks been slow to come along but she's getting there.
Now I just hope to get things buttoned up good enough to use it while I save for the next phase of things (mainly cage work). My ultimate goal is to built it to do a little bit of everything though- run some trails, race here and there and just have as much fun with it as possible with all my freinds and family.
So here's the pig:

Oh and here's a little slide show of us having some good times in the desert and other places.

yeah no offense taken. It's all a work in progress and I just hope to eventually race in the class. Still a long way to go but we'll get there. In the mean time we just make sure to get out to the races every other month and take it all in and have a good time.
I think you referred me to TWW from RDC. I've been lurking around it a bit as well - you can never have enough good forums to browse.

Here is a quick pic.Nothing special and ive been really lazy about getting it done.
What it has.
8.8 out of a explorer with welded diff and 4:56 gears
D35 C/T Camburg beams
Eibach 5.5 coils
33" BFG's
Mcneil front glass
Custom rear CV driveshaft with Spicer joints.
What i need...
Shocks...
extended Radius arms
D35 locking hubs
gears for the front diff
deavers or nationals for the back.
rear glass
With the exception of a simple cage it will be done.Never intended to be a race vehicle but will make a nice 4WD prerunner.

Hey you guys with the BII's. I'm trying to think of Dave's last name, he is the Ford Rep who has been doing the BITD Ford Contingency for years. Brings a decent motorhome out to the BITD races (for Ford with his wife Sandy). On several of Casey's pre-runs, he drives a BII, and I gotta tell ya, it does pretty darn well. His name is on the tip of my tongue, but right now I'm drowning that in Alaskan Ambers at the Seattle Airport. Anyway, for a FORD guy, he seems to like his BII. I'll think of his name at midnight and sit up in bed.

Sounds interesting...Any pics of this BII?
I think the nicest one i saw was at the 06 500.It was a four-linked BII,looked to be owned by a Mexican local. The BII has a ton of downfalls in stock form but its still fun for some desert cruising.

A measely 94"s.Not much help in the big stuff but still fun for a all around trail/pre-run/camp type rig.
You just have to know when to slow down in a truck like this!
PIGRACING...The 33's hit on big bumps at speed.I plan on getting glass to cure that. But on articulation they tuck nice inside the fenders and dont make contact....only when i hit something sthraight on at speed.
If youre wondering the damage on my quarter panels came from rocks not the tires.

I think I'v seen that linked b2 in a vid posted by austin over on dezertrangers. I remember him saying it was moving pretty good too. I believe that guy races with CODE.
Glad to hear that about the 33's too.

One of my buddies (the big asain guy) runs a hooka shop down here so he normally brings a few out when we go. Good stuff for sure.

After reading your intro, I had to throw up a picture of the long lost twin sister to your 1986 BII. I have had this one since 1989. Bought it as a combination family/work car. I travel all over California servicing hydroelectric projects, and I needed a 4 wheel drive, and it was the first 4 wheel drive I ever owned. It has 265,000 miles on it, and the only original drivetrain parts are the front and rear axle. I have cussed that thing, and it has sat parked for months at a time waiting to be fixed, but it is still the best to drive around town and pack tools to the projects I go to. I still drive it on a daily basis, as long as it will start and I don't need air conditioning. The 2.9 engine is out of a 1990, and the 5 speed trans is out of a 1985. I am pretty sure the heads on this engine are now cracked, I carry water with me. The transfer case has been rebuilt entirely of new parts. The original 5 speed used to randomly jam into two gears at once, exploded 5th gear, and finally spit a couple of teeth off second gear. It has been to Mexico and Nevada numerous times as a chase/pit vehicle, and once to Canada. The suspension is totally stock, and in that configuration is pretty limited on what it will do off-road. Very short wheelbase, and junk stock type shocks. On the other hand, it will fit into some very tight spaces, and will just about turn around in its own tracks.

Man that's too funny!:D
And yeah that's just how these bronco's seem to be. My dad has one too, just a year younger and black. We ran that thing like we wanted it dead but it just won't die. Now she just sits waiting to be used again one day...
