Hey who was the Driver at the Finish line? Don or Ken?
I Wonder if I would ever get bored winning every race I enter?
I doubt it.

Yes, congrats to Moss on another win AND congrats to Evans/Donhoe FJ for second and another finish. Don started the race and took it to RM103. Ken took over from there to RM245 where Don brought it home. They had 4 co-dogs along the way putting in a fine effort!

We had a great time Racing with the Moss Brothers. They are great to race with. We changed positions a bunch of times during the first half of the race with that big Bronco and everytime it was a Clean pass with a big thumbs up out the window. So thanks for being fun and giving us a great run. At Mikes Sky Ranch we lost Power Steering and had to limp the truck down to San tomo road. We met some guy down there chasing in an FJ and stole his power steering pump...Thats when Moss got away. Then for the FJ it was lots of Bad luck. we lost a lower ball joint and had to fix it on the trail. Then we pulled out 2 Pro Trucks stuck in the silt and had to wait our turn in a 40 car pile up oon the bottom of a silt hill. The FJ had no problem getting through the silt but we couldnt get around the waiting cars. so by the time we made it down to Trinidad again Moss made 2 hours on us and never looked back. Congrates to the Moss team!!!! You guys are great and we hope to see you at the Primm race. If not lets have a rematch at the 1000... By then we should have the little bugs worked out. What happend to the other 2 guys in the class? I saw Raffo got a late start off the line???
Welcome Back Moss Bross..... awesome.

great to read your story kreg, you were running fast, and what a shame for your problems, we had a few too, we manage to take to the finish line, but way off time,,. too much time lost, but we are very happy with our chupakabras, now he's on a coma, haha, we put an inferno to it after we broke the tranny, and it hold, that's why we ran out of fuel, we got short by a few miles, you can read the story in the other thread..

Thanks to everyone that came down to support us and for the great race from the Donahoe team. Don drove the majority and I drove from Jamau RM103 to Trinidad RM246. Thanks to the FJ pilot for giving us some room to go by on the road up to Mikes and the thumbs up. You guys move right along and were keeping us working for it. It was fun! We lost about 30 minutes to move an upside down 7 truck and make a trail around it after Mikes. The FJ must have been just a few cars back in line there put we couldn't see it. Had a rear brake rotor shatter a few miles past check 2. I decided to continue on at a little slower pace to Trinidad where we had crew and planned driver change since there was still a little bit of brake before the pedal hit the floor. It was a little interesting going down Simpsons with lousy brakes but we made it and apparently stayed just ahead of the wave of car pileups. Spent about 30 minutes getting some decent brakes back in Trinidad and Don took the long leg to the finish without much incident. We waited about 2-1/2hrs at Trinidad to see our competitors come through but had to take off just as the FJ came through. We didnt see anyone else all day.

congrats on you guys :) , awsome race, we are gonna be thinking for a long time on what if...?, :( , at least we made it , we ran the whole course, first time to do it, so.. we are happy,. :D ,
.ps.. like you, the plan was to drive from rm 103 to 246, but, my bro got tired after we replace the tranny at rm 77, so, i jump in at 77 and drove to rm 246 and just switch to co driver, so, i never got out of the truck since then, so, u can imagine how my body feels right now. haha, but it was great, .

Great effort! You guys would have been right up there barrring the mechanical problems. That is a long time in the seat on that kind of course, ouch! At least you didnt have to drive 14 hours to get home. Wish I lived that close yesterday. Hope to see ya at the 1000.

Definite Maybe! You gonna enter? It would be hard to win the points without it. Have to buy some more black paint to cover up that big target tagged on us.

That first 100 miles was great! We went back and forth a couple of times, and ate each others dust for many, many miles. That IFS works a whole lot better in the twisty stuff than our old straight axle. Speaking of dust, you got by Rod Hall right around the road crossing at Ojos. He missed that slight right turn right after the road crossing and was coming around after making a U-turn in the field on the other side of the fence, when we went by!
I was also curious about the start. The SCORE staging crew was not up to speed on feeding the race cars to the start line for 15 second intervals, and we rolled all the way from our side street location right up to the starting arch. Did you guys start right behind Chupa? If you did, I never could figure out where you got by the first time. We took a bad line in that silt hill cluster at RM 6. We were going to be fine and shoot through an open hole, when that dang Ridgeline pulled right across the trail in front of us (AGAIN!) and got stuck with one wheel spinning. Chupa figured it out and we got behind them there, never did see you guys until Ojos. I thought I saw Raffo in the mirror coming through staging behind us up by the Villa Marina, just as we took the flag.
The carnage was awesome out there. I thought for sure we had seen every pro truck there was stuck in or off the side of the trail, but apparently there were a few that made it through. Like Ken said, the traffic jams seemed to get worse later. I sat and watched a little different version of the traffic jam that Cameron Steele described on RDC, but we only lost about 15 minutes there. It was no place to have a fully loaded crew cab Super Duty with stock suspension.
I got a chance to meet Dylan, looking forward to meeting the rest of your crew. The Primm and the 1000 are on our schedule, we'll see you there!

I personally saw Moss go 1st
Then Chupakabras
then Dylan Evans
Then I also saw Raffo get held up some how at the start line...?
He was to the left of the start line (From your Racers point of view) as they let about 6-8 of the following class start before they let him start? http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/WTF.gif I dont know what that was about?

Awsome... The primm will be tough on all our trucks. Cant wait.. We really Wanted to see if we could run with you guys at Baja. I think we are close... Well 2 hours close.....maybe at the primm we will only be 1 hour close...That old bronco does great. We had a bunch of last minute work on the truck before Baja so we didnt get any testing done. hopfully we will be more then ready at the primm and give you a good run. What about the rest of you guys??? who all is running the Primm?

Congratulations Ken and Don on a fine run. We were camped next to Baja pits #7 at race mile 298. I was glad to see you guys go by. The truck looked good and sounded strong. Also props to the FJ crew for a good race. Too bad about the power steering problems etc. better luck next time. Sounds like it was a tough race for the Chupakabras team but good job making it to the finish line. What happened to Raffo? Once again congats to the winners and all of you who participated.:)

Blanco and I were chasing for Raffo. Our truck stopped at Santo Tomas for motor oil and power steering oil, then they ended up blowing a transfer case right around Race Mile 386. I'll have a more detailed write up this afternoon. What a bummer. The Blazer looked and sounded strong too.

so............my question is - was raffo running in 4WD mode?? (4HI?)
unfortunately, our trophy truck did not favor much past mile 220. broken tranny. one more reason i will be racing class 3. much cheaper to get back out there.
