Is it C3 legal to use a fiberglass front clip the updates the model of your race truck? IE using a one piece clip that looks like a 2000 explorer on a 1992 explorer? I haven't ordered my SCORE book yet, but I'm researching fiberglass and want to make sure that I don't screw up before I even get started. . .

From the '06-10 rule book.
Hoods, trunks lids, fenders &/or bedsides, & doors are required to be in the original stock locations but may be of any material. Dropped hoods are allowed as long as stock profile is maintained. Stock grill assemblies are required.
Must retain stock steel cab. No internal stock sheet metal is required.
Safty glass windshields, sides & rear are optional
I hope that helps..

Yeah that is OG, because I was also looking at the one piece front end by Fiberwerx. Oh well. Keeping it old school on my end.

You know, it's actually not that much more for the one piece front clip compared to the two front fenders and a hood. Maybe $200.00 more at the very most but you may save on fabricating mounts for a one piece over a three piece front end. Just thinking of the grass on the other side. :)

If you guys are that dead-set on getting a one piece front; I don't seee why you couldn't cut out the fiberglass grill and insert the stock one. It would seam to be a simple mod and would net you a chrome grill instead of the sticker-type. Just a thought...

The one piece grill that I was thinking of isn't "stock" so to speak. . .
Loose a side fender and it will be hanging in someones wall as a cool souvenir,
loo$e a one pie$e front and it will be installed in someone Else's truck....

Your talking about the ones that upgrade the body style to a newer year...
I would think that it wouldn't raise any alarms if the newer body style was still the same model (not the one-piece front end that makes your ranger/explorer look like a F150). You could get the right grill for the newer model year and insert it into the conversion one-piece, mabey.
I'd ask the maker of the one-piece if the grill dimensions they used for the mold are close enough to be able to cut out the fiberglass and replace it with a stocker before I spent any money though.

I like the idea of running a one piece fiberglass front end, and I believe there is a company making one that is the late model Broco style, BUT, I figure it will be cheaper on replacement panels with separate fenders and hood. If I take out the right side, I only have to buy a new fender instead of a complete front end. (assuming it is not repairable).

I did find one that is separate fenders and a hood that uses a stock grill but still updates to a much newer style of the same model (explorer). I'll probably go that route.

ok i'm still little confused
according to the rules.. would i be able to do the update conversion kit 88-98(i have a 75 blazer)?
it would be a different grill then my stock one right now(but it is a stock one from a newer bodied blazer)
and what about placement of the grill itself? will it be close enough to be considered stock location
(edit:if i could do this the grill could only be used up until 94, thats when the fullsized "blazer" name ended and went to tahoe)
like this...

n/m i dont think i would be able to.
the 3rd gen full size blazers arnt legal(because of wheel base) so using the grill probably wouldnt fly either.

Nor is anyone going to give you a hard time if your 82 bronco is sporting the 87 front-end, for example. It's so common for guys to upgrade to the latest "model"... with the old truck. Nobody cares, nor would it give you a racing advantage. If so, buy a scrap newer title and call your race truck "that year". Trust me, Score doesn't give a crap about anything other than safety, unless someone pitches a fit. I've seen so many rules violations, it's scary, but unless there is a racing advantage, why would someone protest a "cosmetic" change. Now a one-piece fiberglass body... or coil-overs on the rear of a blazer (ha ha), someone might get grumpy over that!!
(i just had to stir the pot... he he)

that is beautiful! I don't think anyone would say squat about what you discuss here on this blazer. I know SCORE wouldn't even blink an eye, and unless someone puts up the CASH to protest (you don't usually get the money back unless the protest is upheld...).... who cares!!
Sometimes, if the protest is upheld, but the advantage is minimal, they might bump you back one spot. Raffo, you are the blazer guy... this might not be 100% "legal", but would you care? I wouldnt!!!
This does NOT overcome the wheel-base issue of new gen blazer/tahoes, however.
Also, is that thing 4x4?

the white blazr is not a 4x4 but it was just an example of the front grill.

I always wondered why nobody ran the last model of the Blazer. I never considered that it was because Chevy changed the wheelbase enough to disqualify it. Its a shame too because that would have make for a bad azz looking class three. Is anyone using one for a prerunner or sportsman class racer? I'd love to see a few pictured of one with +4 or 6" fenders and linked. If someone's got pics of one start a new thread with them, please.
Sorry to have sidetracked the thread.:)

Does SCORE ever even wanna see your VIN to verify what year the rig is?
Reading what I just asked has me realizing that I've removed the Vin number from my dash that a cop would wanna see if he pulled me over. :o
& with that being said, I know most dont keep the stock Dash.
Do they look for the door jab tag?
peteh

my truck never came with a dash vin :)
but i'm keeping the door jam tag.

One peice are a PIA. I've been in a pre-runner and TT that had one piece, and it is a mandatory two person operation. Unless you had some kinda tilt deal it would be slower in the pits to if you have an issue. Just my opinion.

I tried a 1 piece front but it was way too much trouble to get to the engine so I went back to the 4 piece.
