From my understanding, they can be freshened up.

Take them to deaver and they can re-build them and re-arc them for you

so that means that they can be refurbish, no need for a new set, that's great news, thks.

The Deavers have gone the longest on the Bronco. Next best was the ones Don and Dave hammered out themselves from stock. The other brands would not go 1000 miles without a failure. Currently one Score season and full replacement is due according to Don. They get taken apart and checked out every 1000 or so race miles. Your results may vary.. Metal has a memory and will only take so many cycles.

nothing last forever right?, our pack only has like 500 off road miles, +-, i'm trying to do a checklist, what's need to be replaced, fix or rebuild, a quick look to our chupakabras showed a shock abosorber almost getting apart, the mainshaft was unbolting to the lower mount, i don't know how many miles could that last, we almost lost that shock, that was close.

While it is nice that Deaver will refurbish them for you it is not so nice if you dont live close to their shop. Shipping them costs more than anything.

On our stock mini truck, the leafs are sent out to Deaver after every race (BITD). They're supposed to "re-furb" them, which I know at least includes replacing the main leaf. We had one race last year where we broke the two main leafs - found out later Deaver didn't replace the leafs like they were supposed to.

  , so, what to do then, how much they charge to rebuild or refurbish a set?

The Deaver refurb consists of taking them apart, looking for broken leafs, put them back together and new paint. They have covered the refurb, but I paid shipping. One season (5 SCORE races) plus one more race we had a broken main leaf, so we run a max of one season, and check them ourselves.

When you do take them apart to check them, use a NEW center bolt and nut when putting them back together. Also, if you have to (or want to) replace the main spring while you're at it, Deaver told me they are about $100 for a new main leaf. They inpect them visually, and I think they give them a hammer test for sound. I guess they sound differant if there is cracks. As don said, replacing the main or any leafs for that matte is not part of there standard race prep.....which by the way is about $250 for a set of springs.

You haven't been to their shop! Retro describes leaf springs as Conestoga parts, well, their shop is from that era. They have been dynamite with us, and I will go back to them forever, but picture a blacksmith shop as it was around the turn of the century. Not 2000, I mean 1900! Its a step back in time. Inspection is by eye and hammer as Jerry described, but still better by far than any other spring shop I have been to, and I have been to many. You have not lived until you have built your own set of leaf springs, which we had resorted to, until we found Deaver.

Ya, Deaver still has the overhead belt-drive system installed in their shop from the Horsedrawn Buggy era. Definitly old-school.

Almost every race the springs go to Deaver. I started the 500 with a new set, but broke the left rear top leaf. Mains are appox. a $100, but there are two mains per pack. The fronts take much more of a beating than the rears.
