I have two Class 3 Kia Sportge race vehicles in my shop that I would like to get out there running again. We are interested in selling the vehicles but will also consider renting them out for upcoming races, including the Baja 1000.
One needs to be reassembled and we have all the parts. The other is complete but needs a prep. These are really fun, fast and reliable race cars built by Curt LeDuc and Troy Johnson for my factory Kia team. Both cars are former winners in Class 3 and are built with all the best parts:
-Full floater 9 inch Cone rear ends
-Three link with 3" coilovers and bump stops in rear
-Coilover and bypass in the front
-Howe ram assisted steering
-Richmond 5 speed race trans
-Fuel Safe cells
-Autometer gauges
-Chase boxes and many spares included
-race prepared motors
-many spare parts and chase boxes
Will sell them "as is" for $20,000 each vehicle or $35,000 for the pair.
If interested we can sell them raced prepped.
For Rental info and pictures please PM me if you are serious.
Thanks
Darren

That's a smokin deal!
That's what I was thinking! The last thing I need to do is buy a race car (and I can't afford it) but man as soon as I read the price, the gears started turning.
Who's gonna step up!?
Darren is one of these the car that Curt raced in the Dakar?

Thanks for the interest guys. Both cars are 105 inch wheelbase and share a lot of common parts. One vehicle was driven in the Dakar Rally twice. Once by Curt LeDuc and once by me. Both times it finished the rally. It also won the San Felipe 250 in 2000. I used it as a prerunner as it has a large fuel tank and enclosed cab. It would be a great car for the 1000.
The second car is the one that won four Class 3 championships. It is lighter and is setup like a traditional US desert racer. No windshield, radiator in the rear etc. This car is a great car that won and finished a lot of races.
Sorry that there are no photos. The site will not let me upload the ones I have as they larger than the site allows. I can email them to interested parties. As for rental info please PM me if you are serious.
Thanks

In case you didn't know (and care)....Darren sold the Kia's to a couple of guys in Vista. I asked Darren to shoot them an e-mail and ask them to look us up and log on here and say HI. Maybe they will and we can see what their plans are for class 3.....if any. Jerry

Hope they're planning on running them at the 1000. In 2000, there wasn't a decent race car to be found, people were buying everything up to be a part of the Nevada and Baja 2000 races.

I'd love to see ten entries for Primm. Cervantes is having an operation at the end of this month, so he's out. I haven't heard about Pike's new Ramcharger, but I have a call in to his son. If we get the Kia and Ramcharger, one more would do the trick.

Okay Cam, you shamed me into saying at least something. I don't want all you good folks to think that we were stuck up or something.
Please let me introduce ourselves. My name is Ralph (thats me in the picture with Sal) and my partner in this wild and crazy scheme of ours is Bob. Together we make up Vista Racing. We have both been longtime race fans and desert rats and have both aspired to someday form a race team of our own. We originally thought of fabricating our own race vehicle but shortly after signing up on class3racing.com we saw the post from Darren Skilton and recognized a fantastic opportunity at a reasonable price. Within days of Darren's post we were in communication with him and asking lots of questions. Long story short, we bought both vehicles and plan to campaign in class 3. As Cam said, there is alot of work ahead for us to get them prepped to be race ready. We will try our best to keep you guys at C3R up to date on our progress.

Its hard to say right now, with all the work ahead of us. Personally, I would like to start with something small of course. I was thinking about the next SF250, but realistically even that may not be do-able. You blink your eyes twice and the next thing you know, its already March '08. It seems that the older I get, the faster time goes by.
