Can't you buy one direct from Art Carr for $220.00 or so? I thought I saw a advertisement for one on 4Wheel & Off Road magazine.

I wonder what you get for this $232.00 price point on this art carr link.

Save your lunch money and kick down for the shifter you really want, or else you'll be bummed you didn't.

Cam are you going to be running a manual shift valve body so you can cycle through your gears? I've seen other trucks run that set up with a reverse pattern on the shifter gate.

Since you brought it up.....

No, the E4OD is electrically controlled & so maunually shifting is iffy? :o

But I'm gonna be looking into the reverse valve body before I order.
Probably also not available?

Anybody have cullhanes( misspelled ) number available?

Whats the difference between ArtCarr & Winters?

Other than the name plates on the side, nothing. Winters does offer a few more styles of shifters (reverse lockouts, switch panels on the side of the cover, etc.) but otherwise they're identical. Winters used to be cheaper but I don't know of that's the case anymore or not.

Ok, I just got off the phone with Steve Cullhane & he says that he's not aware of any sort of reverse pattern Valve body.

He's sure it could be done But, He's not had enough call for it.

No offense Cam, but until I got the manual valve body (with reverse pattern), the gated shiftwe was a complete joke, other than looks.

Even my oem C6 would shift on it's own... wouldn't downshift for me, and I couldn't run in the gears/rpms I wanted. If you are stuck with D4OD, and it will shift on it's own, why bother?

My life was "good" once I got the valve body and a better torque converter with a higher stall rating.

must my 2 cents!!

I hear what your saying... :o

But I see moving on from the E-$od down the road some...... Assuming I actually start racing..

So I'm just trying to think ahead...

While talking to steve today we both came to an agreement that considering the cost it would be best to either (GASP) swap to a GM trans or look for a C6.

But considering I have commitment issues... I'll run what I've brung for now. http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/shrug.gif

I plan on beating it hard at Primm, So will see whats up at that point!

I wish I never heard anything about Desert play...... Cause damn! I cant afford to keep up with the High Speed stuff! http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/bangdesk.gif

I think you still need a stand alone programmable controller for the E4OD.
http://www.baumannengineering.com/tcs.htm
Once you do that you supposedly can use pushbuttons to manually shift. I hope you figure it all out so the rest of us can learn from it for our trucks:D

A friend of mine is very, very familiar with the Baumann controllers. He has two of them, both on 4R70Ws - one in his early Bronco and one in a 5.0 Ranger. If anyone's curious about the controller or has questions, he's always willing to talk about them/give advice, etc. He's not an off-road racer, but I would consider him familiar with our type of usage (he's an off roader).

OK so would it work as Ken suggest?

Even though I dont see it being too easy reaching to push a button for shifting while in the rough stuff..http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/shrug.gif

I suppose one of those trick Steering wheels with buttons on it might work?

I think the point of 'push button' would be to add limit switches to your gate shifter, or any other unit your comfortable with, so that it would work like you want. Kind of like a fly-by-wire system in aerospace. However, I do think your onto something with the steering wheel buttons. Great idea for off road apps.

Like paddle shifters on Indy cars? Is that what you would invision using the buttons for?
