Dug out a videotape from the archives tonight and watched the 1990 Baja 1000 on ESPN's Speedvision. Dave Ashley pulled off the greatest Class 3 victory ever - 4th overall. Neat to watch all the good footage again. Sure doesn't seem like it's almost 17 years old.

I say I bring my projector from work, put up a big sheet in the backyard as our screen and watch a few old flicks. I'll supply the projector and 12 pack of coronas, lol.

There's no way I could put them on DVD (I'm waaayyyy too technologically challenged to do such things) but Roach contacted me offline about doing such a thing too so maybe we can work things out. I dug back through some of my tapes in the closet a few minutes ago and it looks like I have tapes with 3-4 other races on them too from the '92-'94 time frame. I think they're all from ESPN but the later episodes are more Trophy Truck-centric so this is likely the only one with the Bronco in it. Still all good watching though.

The races are mixed in with other stuff on the tapes but hopefully just the race part can be extracted. Even had a cool Ford commercial or two in them (surprisingly I remembered it).

I'm usually a bit leary about letting these things go for copying, etc. because they end up disappearing and not coming back but I think we can get something together. I don't think I need any $$ to be involved but someday I'll show up with my helmet and driving suit and want a few minute "tour" in your Class 3!! :-)

OK, resurrection of this old thread. I found a company locally that can convert VHS to DVD easily and for not a lot of $$. They recently converted some VHS tapes I had to DVD and also did some DVD copying for me.

I am planning on having them put the two races I mentioned earlier in this thread ('90 B1K and '92 B1K) on a DVD for me. I can make some copies for folks that are interested.

A disclaimer: I'm not making any $$ on this - just want to make some of these old races available for folks that are interested. I think the cost of each DVD with repro and postage costs will be between $5-$10. I'll let everyone know the cost of a "donation" once I get things in hand.

If you're interested in some older races, seeing how races SHOULD be broadcast (in my opinion) and even seeing a Class3racing member in a few shots (that would be you, Mr. Bower), then this will be of interest to you.

Based on current lead times, I should have something available to mail around the end of January.

I have a bunch of old tapes on VHS and want to transfer to DVD. I edited the commercials out of most of them when I taped them.Would they edit commercials out during transfer, or do the just let them run? Watched the 87 HDRA Colorado 300 this afternoon. Several class3 and 4 trucks.

OK guys, I have the videos in hand and will be ready to mail them in the next day or so.

Costs for the reproduction, mailing, etc. come out to $10 each. I quick checked one of the DVDs and they edited out all the commercials so it's not quite as long as I originally anticipated. 95 minutes for the two races - '90 1000 and '92 1000.

I have 12 copies (enough for everyone that initially said they wanted one). You can paypal me $10 at toddz69@cox.net and I'll send you a DVD! If you would prefer an alternative payment method, pm me and we'll work something out.

Thanks,

Correa is big and tall,or Gable is short.
Just watched the 89 Nevada 500.Great video.Back when the trucks had to run a windshield,so Spencer Low started, drove a few hundred yards and removed it.At home interview with a 20 year old Robby Gordon.
The old videos are great if you want to see all the classes represented, and interviews with the lesser known racers.

That would be Ken Correa. Pretty nice guy, but during a race some people change. He was an independent racer. Very little sponsorship. After his racing days were done he opened an RV/trailer park in Moab. He passed away about 10 years ago.

Bob wasn't that you riding with Robby in the Nevada 500,when he overalled in the class 8?

Yes, that was me. It was great fun. He was on a mission, but was not psycho like many thought.

I remember Venable getting on the radio to tell us we were going too hard, and that we needed to slow down because we were going to break the truck. Robby hated hearing that kind of thing on the radio. "Whaddya think?" he asks me. We weren't hitting the bump stops, and we weren't playing "I can save it" so I said to him, "****em. You are the driver, and you are doing a damn good job. Don't change a thing!"

We overalled the Baja 500, the Nevada 500, and the Baja 1000 that year. Pretty special.
