Hey guys. I'm Building a 78 Bronco to run in SCORE Class 3 hopefully by September. I also want to run in some BITD races, specifically the Vegas to Reno, and was wondering if anyone can point out the differences between the Class 3 of SCORE and Class 3000 of BITD? I assume that that would be the appropriate class in BITD to race in. Is it possible to build a truck that would comply with both class rules?
Any ideas would be great.
Thanks
Scott

Well, looking at BITD there is no 3000. And the only catagory that I can see that a Class 3 SCORE would fit into would be a Class 8000 Production Truck/SUV. Does this sound right?

After having only one entry every once in a while for the last few years, I think they finally dropped 3000 this year. As I recall, 3000 was similar to Class 3, but they allowed 2 wheel drive, I think there was a 15" limit on front suspension travel, and you had to run a stock front bumper. When I called them in 2000, they also said you had to run the the shell on the back. Class 8 had very few entries last year after Curt LeDuc took his Class 8 to TT. In other words, finish the race, and you finish well in the class. The other plus is Ford has had some very good contingency money at BITD. The money was heavily weighted toward late model vehicles, but they would still pay you for winning with a Bronco.

You are correct they did drop class 3000. We were given the option to run class 8000 or class 1800 (prerunner class) at Parker this year. The only other option is the stock SUV class if your vehicle fits those rules.

So in 8000 i didn't see anything that was to different. Would we need to keep the stock front bumper or Fiberglass top (Bronco) on to race. I know those were some rules that i was questioning before but didn't see them in the 8000 Class.
I guess this should be in the BITD section. Sorry

I was following you guys for a while on the way back from parker. tried to see if you guys were 2x4 or 4x4...

which is it?

If we pick a non-score and a non-bitd race, would you come out and race with some of us class 3 guys?

My experience with BITD was GREAT courses... casey likes 'em rough, and hot. Almost as spendy as Score.

Where do you live? I am going to put together a map with "points" for all the class 3 or SWB guys we know of...

As the pics show we are 2 wheel drive. When we built the truck our intent was for it to be a street legal prerunner and run it in a few MDR races so we got rid of the 4 wheel drive and built equal length front beams. One of the guys that we raced with last year in MDR has an issue with us being 2 wheel drive MDR told me if I limit the front end to 15" (like in BITD) we could continue racing so to make things friendly we started racing BITD. We wanted to make the move to BITD anyways. I live in Lake Forest (south OC) and yes we will race just about anywhere. The night races are always fun...

Let me guess it was the guy racing this early bronco right?

I wonder if he'll end up here on C3R with us?
Maybe then we could here his argument among the Class 3 Population..

Where's the Class 3 love? The more the merry, that's what I'm thinking. It's not like you are pitting a TT against class 11.

Orr, nice looking Bronco. Can you post some pictures of the interior of your rig?

Thanks, I will take some pics this weekend and try to post them. I'm a little slow with the computer, but I'll figure it out.

OK -- so what I read here is that I need to count on running 8000 for BITD, right? Has anyone done the Vegas to Reno? sounds like fun, and a good prep (from a timing perspective) for Baja in November.
