:as i said before, our future plan was to swap our early 4.0 ohv for the newer 4.0 sohc engine,(as you know, almost every class 7 have that engine) well, my bro already bought a 98 4.0 sohc engine from a friend who his explorer cought fire :D:D, he's selling the engine in 250 dlls, :D:D, so, can wait to have that engine,,
our chupakabras for the next race, hopefully the 1000, will have a 98 4.0 sohc engine with a new ford c4 tranny behind, built by JUAN CO.. with that we are doing a huge jump in the performance of our chupakabras, as you know the actual engine that we have only has 150 hp , the sohc engine comes with 210 hp stock, and about 20 ft/lb of more torque,,
also we are planning on adding a bypass shock to the front suspension, actually we only have the coilovers plus the air bump stop,
as soon as we start with all the work, i will start posting the progress, see yahh all guys, and keep on working., :)

Whew! Thank God, Chupa. This gives me much relief knowing you are going to the HiPo motor and auto tranny soon.......specially after seeing you get honked at, almost nerfed, and then passed by class 11, Villanos Racing.....Oh, I thought you might want to see it. They come up on you at 04:12 in the video. :D That is you, isn't it?

:) All in good fun, but what a great find, eh? My class 11 friend sent me that yesterday just to show the cool class 11.....I was watching it, and all of the sudden, "Holy Crap, that was CHUPA!" :) ...back up, replay, back up replay.....yup, Chupa! :)
Hey, at the 2007 250, the winning class 11 was only about 25-30 minutes behind the winning class 3 (Dylan Evans FJ). Those 11's move along pretty good!

a few weeks ago, an off road race was held at rosarito , there were a few class 7, and i ask them who prep or build their tranny, and there was juan, they introduce us with him, well, they introduce us with a guy who ended up to be juan, we had a nice chat with him, told him what we want it to do and there you go, hes building our tranny and soon will be helping us with our engine too, it was pure luck to find him that way, and yes , hes a pretty nice guy, i think he lives here in tijuana, and works there and here and everywhere, haha,
...:)

we almost finish the swap from manual to auto tranny, 90% finished, we took it for some test but had some problems, it looks like the shifter it's not well calibrated, the cable needs some adjustment, JUAN CO will visit us next monday to help us out with that isue, you shift into first an no problem, shift to second gear and some times it doesn't shift, it lucks up the wheels, some times, but well, that was the first test, ..
here are some pics of our oil cooler setup, we ended up buying a HYDAC oil cooler, kind of eurpean style, because of the threads, not metric or std, but well, it's big enough, we will not need two oil coolers, it holds more than a gallon of oil, here are the pics..

f... gremlins. haha, faulty valve body, hope this weekend to do another test drive, right now it's almost ready, well, we will need this remaining weeks to finish the chupakabras, we don't want any surprise, we did an exorcism to the chupakabras:D:D, hope it worked., see yahh at san felo.
We had a bummer saturday, as the tranny fail again whit out notice.......
Today we received a re-checked tranny from JuanCo, this time it seems to work fine, at least on the blocks around the shop, will post more saturday or sunday when we tested on the dirt.

What is the tranny doing when it fails? Is it overheating, or just slipping? After it sits for a while, does it work for a short time? I tried to race C4's in a circle track car years ago, and they just would not live. I have stacks of them piled up in a distant storage area. There are parts for them now that might have made them last longer, but since we were running in 1st gear all night long, there was no way they would hold up. Those little tiny planetaries were spinning at about 18,000 rpm. I hate to say that I went to a 3 speed manual to solve the problem.......
The first time, it was locking the wheels when changing gears, bad valve box, got fixed.
The second time, a gasket gave way and oil poured out even in parking, same valve box, was send to manufacturer, forgot to drill hole, problem fixed.
Third time, it just neutralized at low RPMīs, Juan Co. took it back to his shop, some damage was caused by earlier problems.
More testing this weekend and pictures from the prep.

pure BAD LUCK,. that explains our tranny failures, faulty valve body at first, then a blown gasket, then a little piece that holds the bands broke, etc etc, now juan co has put many aftermarket parts in the tranny, so, i have faith that it will hold, really want to believe that, ha, will see this weekend, we really wanna race at san felo, so see yahh there,.
Back from testing, we are happy whit the results, tranny worked fine.
Leaving to San Felipe on friday, see you guy there.

He is the best. Fear not, his trans have worked behind serious horsepower and have done the job well. Besides that, he is one of the nicest and knowledgable guys in the business. I think I said this earlier, but it's worth repeating. For you newer guys in the San Diego area, he offers great service and stands behind his work and does so at a very reasonable price.

yes man, i have faith on him, on his work:D,. we tested our chups yesterday, we put some offroad miles on it and worked awsome, everything, tranny, engine, suspension, even the intercom that i bought on ebay, an avionics intercom, it was great to be able to talk with your co while driving, first time to be able to do that, believe it or not, well, we will be working on the small details this week until leaving to san felo ,. see yahh all there.
