Ferrari Trophy truck to race the '07 Baja 1k

I've just learned of a super secret Trophy Truck being built by Ferrari in Italy!

Has anyone else heard about this?

I bet its RED. :rolleyes:

The team owner Bob Newberry( I think thats his name? ) dont even know what it looks like...
Nobody is being allowed a sneak peek at it.

They seem to of gathered a collection of drivers including Mears ready to race it at The '07 Baja 1000.

I know for a fact the one of the Drivers Jimmy Zahnd ( the 1st driver as from what I've gathered ) has never raced off road before.
He's a stock car racer & some road racing amongst other things..

He's a complete rookie. He says he did one protruck race & came in 2nd out of 12 trucks.

Other wise he's just been pre-running alot getting in his practice.


Have any of you heard anything about this super secret TT from Ferrari? :confused:

It wouldn't surprise me and I won't doubt its ability after eating so much crow after discounting the Volkswagen Toureg at the 500. A V 12 at full song accross the lake beds would be cool.

Isn't a trophy truck supposed to resemble a production vehicle. I wonder what Ferrari will use? Hopefully this doesn't start a trend in trophy trucks like the one in monster trucks where you get a flexing bicep running down the course or a lizard-thinggy; WTF! The Jesse James TT already is a monstrosity that looks more like a Tonka Toy than a Dodge (I think thats what its supposed to be).

One of the owners of Team Canada racing (they have raced a CJ8 and Hummers in the sportsman class at Baja 1000 for years) was talking about building a stone stock Yukon or a Ferrari powered Class 1 last spring...looks like he went the exotic way....

imop, this would be junk. i do not think Ferrari's would have the tourqe to pull the tires thru sand washes or anything off-road related. high reving engine - good, low end power - junk.

I tried to keep myself from dragging up this old thread, but I was wondering if anybody had any details on this Ferrari TT. The link you showed says he is going to race that Class 1 Ferrari in 2008. Is this true? And did anybody ever find out what happened to the Ferrari TT?
