Hey all, new guy here. Not new to bronco's... I've owned two now (87 and 96). I was out at the Moses Lake Washington Sand dunes and saw some rock crawlers as well as a few lifted bronco's out there having fun... So I begged my soon to be wife to let me keep the 87, and she said yes! (If you saw my driveway, you would understand...63 Dodge W200, 89 F250, 70 GMC 2500, 87 Bronco, 94 Pathfinder, 84 1 ton suburban, 96 Bronco, 4 quads, 5 bikes, two trailers)

So, what I have to play with:

Stock 87 XLT Bronco with power everything (even the tcase)
6" superlift with extended radius arms and superlit rear springs
Cooper AT 33x12.5x15 on 15x10 Ultra type 61's
3" stainless mandrel bent exhaust (manifolds back)

Drivetrain
TTB/302 cid/AOD trans/8.8

What I want to do:
Play in the dunes, light jumping, etc. I dont want to race(yet)

My plans:
Put the above parts on the truck, gusset the drop brakets and TTB arms, knuckle under steering.

Should I weld the drop brackets as well as bolt? Grade 5 or 8?

What about cut and turn?

My biggest problem... she wont let me spend any money yet :D

How did you learn about the site?

I also think from what you've said that you'd like Our Sister site.

Just click my Sig Banner.

Sounds like you have some Class 3 racing fantasy's that your wife better not hear about! http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/17.gif

I was searching for ideas to keep my bronco alive in the desert when I start hitting the major whoop (3' tall 3 foot seperation) sections our dunes get up here.

That, and I spend alot of time on FSB :)

We are still looking for a way to make our Bronco work in those conditions. The wheelbase is the biggest problem, you need another 15 or 20 inches. As it is, all of us in this class just have to grind these things out at about 17 mph. 3 foot whoops requires 3 feet of suspension travel. It is just not going to happen with a 105" wheelbase unless you can make it move with out operable driveshafts.

Ken Leavitt uses the same vintage Bronco, with no major changes from stock, and he does it as well as anybody. Just good shocks and springs, and keeps it as light as he can.
