What trailer do you use to tow your rig? Carson, Big Tex, etc.? How long of a trailer? Dual axles? Brakes? Did your trailer come with a tire rack or did you have to fabricate one up? If you can post some pics, I would appreciate that.

Chris-
just my $.02 worth...but a full size Bronco is heavy so it really needs brakes on atleast one of the two axles you'd have on the trailer it would be on.
I built an 18' trailer for hauling a first gen. Toyota truck and an EB (separately) brakes on both axles, and its got about 7500 miles (edit: actually 10,200 miles) on it now with no real issues...(had a spring hanger bolt back out when the nut fell off- easy highway fix)
would I do it again...probably not. too long.

Help a brother out here and post some picks of your trailers. I'm looking at Carson's California Deluxe dual axle trailer. But I want to be able to carry at least four spares at the front of the trailer if possible.

what I meant to say is that it took too long to build it. the length is fine for me. should have gone a little wider or built the fenders so they could be driven over-- (still can and probably will)
I'll see if I can dig up a photo of mine for ya...

this one is a buddies Az-Tex 18' car hauler. borrowed to go pick this up in Vegas--sorry its so far away. I can say that the trailer pulled well. but the welds were less than perfect- fender broke on the way there.

this one was another borrowed trailer. Except for the surge brakes that failed after I hit a deer...it preformed flawlessly. I wanna say its an apache? might me wrong..used it about 8 years ago. cool feature is the dovetail rear...easier loading.

Thanks Tom for the pics. I stopped by Carson Trailers today and I'm 99% sure I'll be ordering a 16 foot Carson Deluxe flat trailer with tandem axle. With all the upgrades, I'm looking at right under 4k with sales taxes. I'm going to need it soon since the body is about to come off the frame and be handed off to the body shop guys.

What are you having done to the Body?

Hey Cam,
The firewall will be patched up. Lots of holes from removing the a/c unit as well as just smoothing out the firewall in general. The rear wheel wells are going to be opened up since I won't be going with rear fiberglass. Then the body will be media blasted and painted black and rhino lined under body and interior floor before it goes back on the frame. Long way to go until this thing gets done.
Another thing about the Carson trailer I saw today, you can choose an option to add trailer floor lights that point up towards the undercarriage of the vehicle on the trailer so you can work on it if need be without having to pull work lamps under the vehicle. I'm definitely ordering that option.

http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/humm_smilie.gif............................ No offense Chris, But, why are you spending so much money on things like pluging up the little holes in the fire wall & such by a professional body shop, If you've decided to make this a dedicated Class 3 Rig.
Your gonna be taking out all the Glass & the Top & all sorts of stuff that are gonna have all sorts of air flowing all over the place anyways.
Why not just save alot of money & plug up the holes your self?
Even if you cant weld I'd Just sillycone & rivit a plate over the Big A/C hole & such..
Or heck I could weld up all the holes for you with scrap metal, Saving you lots of CASH!
Or are you going for both Show & go?
& buldging out the rear Fenders instead of buying rear glass is pretty easy actually I learned how to do it while at Fantelli MotorSports. ( thats what I had them do to mine. :) )
Heck if you can afford it, MORE POWER TO YA! http://thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/7.gif
But that just seems like some crazy money being spent, when it could be use in much more important areas.. http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/m2c.gif

No offense taken Cam. I know that it may seem like a waste of time and money but it's something that would bother me if I didn't clean up.
It's kind of like that hot chick that has a mole on her chin that you just can't get over, lol.
I won't be mounting any rear glass, just cutting open the wheel well to follow the natural body lines and maybe flaring it out a little.
Thanks for the offer, I appreciate that.
It's going to be "All Go" but I hope it looks decent as it's going down dirt. I won't cheap out on any of the suspension or safety features the truck will need. Actually, the amount I'm spending on the firewall is not very much at all. Like I said in the past, I'm building this truck exactly the way I want. It's no wonder it'll take me a year to finish. It's not that I have money to burn because I don't but I just know what I want. Hopefully you guys will understand my vision of my vehicle once it's done.

Yeah I completely hear what your saying....
It may cost more to do it your way instead of buying an already built rig, But at least it will be all you! :D
& for me its not a mole on her face, But more a thing bout her 2nd toe being longer than her big toe. http://thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/HistericalSmiley.gif

This one is from Performance trailers, which is local - A split off (family fued)from the Big Tex guys, and right across the hwy from their factory. I had it built extremely heavy, and it's got brakes on both axles.

Yeah I suppose you have a point.
If they would have centered the load, they probably would of not had these issues.
But either way that was too heavy for it.

I measured my Bronco this evening and it appears to be around 14 feet 6 inches. Do you think a 16 foot trailer is long enough or should I pay the extra bucks and get the 18 footer?

If you're gonna want to add a tool box and or tire rack or supply rack, it would be a good idea to go at least 18 feet.

Thanks Rocketman and Jerry. I will go for the 18 footer. That's a nice speed loader trailer but they aren't close to me so I think I'm going to stick to Carson Trailers so I can drive over and order my trailer with all the bells and whistles I want. Carson said it takes about three weeks to build a trailer since they didn't have a California Deluxe model on hand.

Thanks Nick. That trailer is sweet. I just don't know if it's wide enough. I like that tire rack. The guys are Carson said they can build a custom tire rack as well as a tool box in front. I'm definitely going to need that.

Mine sounds like what you are ordering... but I wish it was a bit longer. I'm pretty sure it's the Carson delux car hauler, with the diamond plate steel (I don't care for wooden floors). I wish it was two feet longer or so. I've hauled an F-150 short bed extra cab, but could never haul a long bed or suburban, or anything. It would hang off. Mine only has 4 hooks, I wish it had 10 (for tires, coolers, gen, etc). I have NO tire rack, frankly, it wouldn't fit. Due to weight, we always more room hanging off the rear than in the front, even with the SWB race car. All-in-all, it's a great trailer. I don't believe I have any brakes - if so, we've never bothered to use them. MUST have dual axles, at least.
Make sure your trailer is wide enough for your race car, or you will be driving over your fenders, which puts a quick end to them.
My buddy mike bought a dove-tail years ago and HATED it... allways scraping, everywhere ya go. His next one was NOT a dove tail.
In my opinion, a light, but fairly well-built trailer is fine. Who the hell has pictures of their trailer? ha ha. I don't think I do.

Any pics Ken?
What I am ordering is Carson's Deluxe 20" trailer with diamond plated flooring, eight flood lights that point upwards (so you can work under the truck with lighting), eight hook points, reinforced drive over wheel well (though I think I'll barely fit between the trailer's wheel fenders since I'm ordering a 102" wide trailer), winch mount for a warn 5000 pound winch, that I can use a snatch block to double the power to pull up my broken rig if need be) tire rack and tool box. Damn that a lot of crap. Oh yeah, in all black. Should be a nice trailer. Once it's order and comes in, I'll post some pics.

Perfect. I think mine was a 16, and none of that goochy stuff. Sounds ideal! I really don't think I have any digital pics of the truck on the trailer, or of the trailer alone.
Black wouldn't be much fun in Vegas, but if you don't plan on racing there, no biggy. There have been times I couldn't crawl under my RED trailer to ratchet the truck down... when hot. Black loves dust too, but any other color shows the fluids... IF your truck ever leaks!!

Ken good point about the color. I guess white would be ideal, don't you think so? Though any metal on the dead of summer has to be a bitch to lay on or touch.

& how did that work out?
I'm sorta looking around again for one & found a good deal on a 16 foot Carson. $1,500.00
