what do you guys think of my logo? A couple of people/co's were working on it, but I wasn't satisified, so I decided to give it a go myself. I only have access to Autocad 2004 and my skills are limited, so there are some features that are not quite ideal, but it came out good.

Is that the best you can come up with???:confused:

Just kidding Brian.:p

Brian, nice logos. What about the tube at the end looking like it was notched to keep with the fabrication theme.

Thanks man. That's a good idea. I'm still not satisfied with them, despite the 20hrs or so I've put in messing around with various configurations. The version on the left has been my favorite, it just needs a little more work on the exclamation/tube end to set it off right.......IMO :D

For my input I expect a 10% discount on my tranny skid plate, lol. Just kidding Brian. Can't wait to see you knock out fab parts soon.

Looks good, nice and simple. You've done a great job with the 'Y', its easily identifiable like any good brand. Once you've established that then you can expand and vary the logo and tag line to suite your different needs.:)

Keep in mind these points:

You want to keep it simple because that way the smaller size stickers, screen prints will still come out legible.

Also, you want a logo that transfers to steel well, that means it shouldn't rely on colors as its sole defining characteristic. Think about the old black and white TV ads and inexpensive newspaper ads you've see.

You want to be able to have it, or a variation of it, laser-ed from steel and not need to locate different pieces with each other to weld to your product. Kind of like the old Chevrolet lettering was; all connected so that two pins through the fender would mount it. The Honda, Toyota, and Scion logos are good examples of letter-based logos that are easily transfered to different medias.

And you want to have the negative image of your logo laser or water-jetted out of sheet (skid plate or cage gusset) without having flimsy areas or missing details like the middle of 'A' and 'O' etc.

Don't forget to incorporate your web address into at least one design as well.

Pick a font from the many websites out there that give them away and try that font with all the possible letters used in any of your logo variations. Make sure you can read it well at a glance, that way when you put it on the side of your rig, over the windshield, etc, people who see your truck on the road can read it and remember it without wondering if that 'Y' was a 'T' or the 'S' was a 'B' etc.

You want the shortest name thats still identifiable to your company or your companies services and products for the website address. www.yikesfab.com, yikesoffroad, yikesracing, etc or www.bentsteel.com, www.offroadfab.com, www.prerunnerproducts.com etc..

Stay away for spaces or dashes in your address. The amount of effort required to remember either is about equal to adding another word to your address. (www.off_road.com and www.offroadfab.com) Say them both in your head as if you wanted to remember them to type in when you got home and you'll see what I mean.

Good Luck.

Disclaimer: Web addresses are examples and I didn't check to see if there was actually any content to them.

Oh, and make up 2000 of them... and hand them out at the 1000. Soon they will be on every lunch pail, bar mirror, pickup truck, and yugo on the road.

We've seen our stickers on some doozies... it's pretty funny to see your own sticker going down the road in front of you, on a 78 datsun with no bumpers. Makes a fella proud!!

Good info. Thanks 151! I've considered most of those points, but it certainly doesn't work inverted, does it. I own www.yikesfab.com :D as well as four others that I'm considering. I was hesitant to use yikesfab because I didn't want the company name to be limiting in a specific industry or trend, but I like it and yikes-design is both boring and oops!, what was that website again? Ha! Again, good info.

I just had a great thought for ya... at the risk of look like a "skin industries"... the whole thing could have a sex appeal look to it... throw some high-heels on it, turn the Y into legs, and bring the sex back to racing (I sound like AJ Almandinger). :O)

You can make it a negative, you'll just have to work on where you want to add details that would allow you to suspend the center islands of the design. Also, the 'Y' you've designed could be displayed without the center parts and its still identifiable because of its unique shape. It's a very unique, simple, and versatile logo.

I lost my ACAD and it was my fault. Anyway, I began again with a slight variation. I think it looks better than the rest. Perhaps less thongy!

Hey Yikes,

In my opinion this is the best one. Just my two cents. :)

Looking like a g string is just an added bonus.

Yeah that looks nice but the font size on the Yikesfab.com is smaller in this version. Leave the font size like the silver and black version. That's a good size.

That logo is going to look bad @$$ if you can laser etch it into your fabricated parts.

Have you considered a design you could cut out of your parts?
like lets say in skid plate or sliders plate?

Yes I have. I think the outline of the Y is recognizable enough after the business is established, but most of the time the logo will be tacked on to components rather than cut out of. Follow me?

Tacked on or cut out, the logo rocks.
