Springs removed & pins up front.
Whos glass are you running?
I think for a Street rig, 4 pins would be a pain in the butt.
Lets say your alone & wanna check your oil or whatever, It probably not so easy removing the hood alone.
Sure you probably can but then I see the hood falling over from time to time & such. http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/m2c.gif

Perrys Fab and Fiber "kit"
I don't have that extra reinforcing glass under the hood....however, I can cut and 'glass the steel section from the stock hood in place under there. then I can keep the hinges atleast until the cage is installed sometime in the future. like on another trip to CA?
Geez Cam...my street Bko has probably seen more dirt than your build up...:p
but I get what you are saying about the alone getting the hood "up"...
it isn't a heavy hood by any stretch of the word.

Couldn't you just fab a sub-frame/support structure to keep the weight to a minimum and lam it to the hood? Then you could use the hinges.

I started with four pins on my hood (lift off, no hinges, and I don't know the maker) and it wasn't enough to prevent lifting at speed so I had to add two more pins at the leading edge. My hood is super light though; the truck is lifted about six inches between the tires and the suspension and I can still easily pull my hood without scratching a fender. I'm working on adding springs under the posts at the corners so that when you pull the pins the hood is held above the posts, as that seems to be the hardest part of removing to hood with the autofab pin/bushing sets by yourself. Right now I have to reinsert the pins into the posts as I lift each corner of the hood up so that the hood can be pulled off easily by one person.

This was one of my concerns. I dont think I want a "pin farm" all over the hood, but at the same time- I'd like it to stay put.
I wasn't worried about scratching paint...it IS an off road truck!
Thanks for the input fellas.
I start the actual swap this week- getting fenders and front clip stuff prepped later today even.

Hey 151,
I like the idea of the springs. I will be running the Autofab hood with four pins and no hinge connection.

I was worried as well when I realized I had to add more pins, but it actually looks fine with the four pins across the front. I'll post a pick when I get a chance.
The springs will probably be added when I remount the hood after I add the cage. I'll post picks of the build once I get started.
