What do you do with the openings on the 2 UMP superfilters? those look like the 10" diameter, right? if you need 2 of those, you must have one helluva motor in that beast!

The plan was for the louvers on the hood to be located right above the intake tube on the UMP filters. Unfortunatly i dont think the louvers are going to be glassed in on time. The idea behind the two filters are for long baja preruns. More filter area, more time between filter changes.

Thanks -- It seems like they would be a big silt vacume cleaner up there??. I am swapping mine out for a larger single that they've just built because the smaller one didn't give us enough air flow and we don't have room for two under our hood. We run our intake inside the cab like Chuck does. Nice setup on yours...

haha, vacume cleaner, haha, well, that's true, but, what ever your set up is, ours it's inside the cab, we still need to replace the filter at every pit stop, or 200 miles or more, the last time, we were lucky, ha, at the baja 500, there were some guys from AEM filters, at the contingency, they give us two filters, free, free only for racers they said, we had an old k&n filter, i ask them how much $ but they give us free plus a spare one, they work great, they still are in great shape for another 100s of miles, ..

btw, i want one of those ump filters, $250, each.

Hey Speed,

When are the shock towers going on?

Chris

The shock towers are already in. They are the four "bars" extending from the engine cage. They have a plate on the top of each of them with a bunch of holes in it (see the previous pic).

Hey Ruben and John (Speed Unlimited) it was good seeing you guys at the Expo on Saturday. The Retro Bronco is looking great. Does DirtSport have plans to show case that rig in the Masterpiece in Metal section of the magazine? It definitely deserves a full photo spread.

Okay I cant resist any longer to comment. Is this truck waiting for a buyer or showpiece? It cant have seen 50 miles of dirt yet. It is very pretty with some nice workmanship and features...but some things like , is there really a bar directly behind your head with no headrests?

Very good point, I can see how that might really mess up the back of ones head. :o

IIRC they build it for a customer...

I'm thinking its going to need drive shafts before it can see any miles in the dirt. It sure is pretty, someone mortgaged the farm on it, hopefully not sub-prime!

I believe a mastercraft head pad will be installed on the bar behind the seats. I hope they get this truck dirty though I'd be afraid to leave it outside my garage overnight because that thing would be so gone.

The owner has apparently been very particular about details, but I guess safety was second to aesthetics. I was wondering why lowbacks, but didn't even notice those 2" headrests. Wow! Maybe it is going to be a street queen.

Can someone tell me if the truck really has 15" wheels? The Masterpiece article says it does, but I'm thinking they're a little larger considering the brakes on it. I can't tell for sure from the pix and I haven't seen it in person.

Thanks,

OK, cool. Thanks for the clarification. I figured they had pulled off some great mastery getting those calipers/rotors under 15's if they had.

Those tubes were a concern with us too. When we recieved the Bronco, we had a tight timeframe and quite the project in front of us. The fabricators before us had done alot of things that we saw as scary. One was the front engine cage (which we cut off and rebuilt) and the tubes behind the seats, along with many other things that were either modified or replaced. If we were to build this from the ground up, the cage design would be dramatically different, but we opted to go the headrest way instead of cutting into a whole new can of worms. There will be headrests installed before the truck gets dirty. To answer the previous question, no, she has not seen the dirt yet. But should be out testing here soon. Thanks for all the comments guys.
