Well, my birthday was a little less than great - had a battery cable fail on my tow-rig 30 miles out of town with my wife n' daughter in the truck.. got it fixed, had a nice dinner at a tiny diner in the middle of nowhere...

..and on the next day went Racing, so it wasn't all bad. :D

Race Pics (http://www.binderbulletin.org/forums/showthread.php?t=72824)

The pictures will be available again in the morning - I'm upgrading the web server right now. ;)

late B-Day present.

Much appreciated! I hadn't even thought of stitching a few together and making it pseudo-landscape.

I like it. :smokin:

The mostly-white EB is a buddy of mine. He barely finished the "heat" race - when we got back to our pit, the 302 quit.

Seems there was a meeting between the valve, the piston, and the spark plug, and the three of 'em just couldn't get along so they just up n' quit the whole thing.

He's scrambling to get another motor and stuff it in before the next race in Wyoming on 10/13.

On the video.. I got the DV footage from the top of the semi off the camera but haven't done any editing yet, and I just brought the in-car camera in tonight, so maybe I'll get some editing done soon and stick some videos up.

Of course, the racer is still muddy, and still missing rear shocks, and still sitting on the trailer.. good weather tomorrow, crappy weather tomorrow night and Sunday, so I'm hoping to get it washed and into the heated shop (this is Montana, y'know) tomorrow so I can get it prepped.

Once you paste the pictures you can really see how much air your rig (and you) is getting, awesome, canīt wait to see the video.

There is video.. and it should be up on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/tsm1mt) either later tonight, or early tomorrow - I've finished editing the DV footage, now it's just re-encoding.

Still need to get the in-car stuff edited, but I've been busy editing other races - you'll see stuff from the Powell, WY race two weeks ago in my YouTube.

Then there's the little matter that I need to yank the engine and trans out of the racer now that it's cleaned and back in the shop.

Lost (I hope) a head gasket in Powell (or cracked something..water in the oil), and it was starting to puff a little oil at times, so time for new rings.

The 727 comes out because I have a transmission brake to install.

I was supposed to be spending the winter prepping the new car, but it's not looking like it'll be ready before February's race, so the old chassis is going to make it to at least 9 years of racing.. I'll have to race it at least once in 2009 just to make it an even ten..

Edit: here's the first heat.. the main will follow tomorrow night..

Great clip!
Whats each lap?
Looks to me like maybe up to a Mile..

What better way to spend your B-day! http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/awesome_dude.gif

I'm bummed out that my local grassroots course has been closed down.. :(

I was really looking forward to pushing it there & working on my skills there... http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/3gears.gif

I think it's supposed to be 7/8 mile, but somewhere around a mile.

The Powell course is 4.5 miles long, IIRC. I was leading by a bunch on 10/13 after the first lap, but cut a tire not long into the 2nd lap, and it was a LONG way to where I could pull off for the pits again..

I have no idea how good of a driver I am (I'm too much of a pansy to be GOOD), but I know I'm a much *better* driver now than I was ten years ago, between the recreational 4-wheeling and the racing.

Thanks. I try to edit out the worst parts, but I don't put much time into getting *just* the highlights or any fancy effects - that's time away from the shop. ;)

Main Event, Part 1 of 2

Part 2 is encoding tonight..

They ran the Formula4x and "Pro" classes together for the main.

I started the race with the rear shocks completely removed due to damage. I wanted to start and finish the main to get a finish, and there was still a good chance the other Formula trucks would have a mechanical failure and hand me a win. :)

Yikes

Part 2 of the Main

I also have video from two Powell races on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/tsm1mt)

Now to find where the in-car footage is and get that edited..
