For the TTB and D44 boys: Are any of you adding knuckle studs and/or increasing the size? Is it necessary? Although the spindles are hub centric, it certainly seems the studs are a bit undersized for heavy pounding. I've heard of spindles tearing off when running 37" tires, so it seems they would be on the edge with 35's.

Hey Brian,

I think Speed Unlimited builds over size knuckles to combat the stress normally associated with hard off road use. But I haven't seen any other examples.

Yeah. I've seen those, but my TT funds are currently on hold. :D I'm looking more for modifications to the factory components. Nobody here has input on this?

I thought you were building a Bronco/Truggy? :)

FlyinBronco's truck is upgraded to 5/8" studs to match the rear. Autofab did the work, but I don't know what exactly was involved.

You're speaking of wheel studs though, correct? I'm interested in the spindle studs.

Have never had a problem with the spindle studs, and they have been the ones that came with each axle. We check them often, along with the spindle snouts themselves. There are only 5 on the 78/79 axles, instead of 6 on the TTB, but they are in a much larger pattern.

You're right, I misunderstood. For ultimate strength you can have the steering knuckle and spindle machined for 6 more studs. At that point the knuckle will fail long before the studs.
