OK fellas -- Here's the deal. Rookie mistake -- When we hit the first pit, we killed the motor, and the camera turned off. We were so full of adrenaline, neither of us thought to turn the darn thing back on! So we had a great camera set up, just not much video. This year will be different, and the camera set up is coming out of the 24 Hour racing Bronco that took 3rd in last years 1000, even after a roll over. It's going to give us in cab views, rear views, night vision etc..it's really 1st class stuff. I'm working with Doug right now on getting some of their clips from last year loaded so you can see them. They're awesome..I understand he has some good footage of the 300 truck following, as well as their roll-over. I'll post when we have them done.

See ya in a month!

These videos were made with our recorder and cameras from chasecam. Here's the link to their site. chasecam website (http://www.chasecam.com). The video is written to a compact flash card, so you can use a 16GB card and record about 8 hrs of video. You then just take if off the flash card, and edit with any video editing software (like microsoft movie maker). There's also a splitter device that we weren't using, which will let you use a second camera and give you picture in a picture. So you could have the first camera pointed toward the front, and the second pointing into the cab at the driver. It's pretty simple stuff, really, and doesn't cost a zillion bucks.

Doug's stuff (which we are going to use this year) is actually a hard disk and will record the entire race without changing any cards. It can handle 5 camera's (I think that's right), and has auto night vision. It's much more expensive than the chasecam stuff, but much "cooler" also.

Did this help?

Here's another. Check out the upper left corner close to the end of the clip and you'll see another Class 3 guy in the silt. These clips aren't me, they are of the 24 hour racing team who finished 3rd this year. A few of their guys/drivers are joining us this year because their racer rolled. Their loss is our gain!;)

Holy cow! Took me a few minutes to find the videos in those addresses given, but they are a little scary! Couple of tough moments there. Would like to hear the details on how it all ended up.

Here's another one at the goat trail, without any drama though:

it's your truck too light? too much hp? suspension too stiff? i might be wrong, i'm judging from what i saw on those videos, altought their awsome, thks for sharing all of the above! :D Actually, we've got some significant handling issues(big surprise, right?). We tried a last minute (dohhhh) change that made it worse than last year, so that's the entire focus right now -- it's not what put us out this year, but it slows us down quite a bit. If you've ever driven an EB that had caster issues and bump steer, then multiply that by 5 and that's our racer! It's our own fault, and we've had time to get it right but we keep screwing with it and letting too many people put their mitts on it. We're done with that, and we're going to resolve it ourselves this year. I guarantee it will handle right before the next race or I won't return.

That was freaky watching the truck make its way the to the edge of the road. I know it was downhill and a little slippery, but wow. I would have never thought that that section would cause that kind of trouble. And you guys went how far?

Are you guys OK sharing the approximate cost for the in-car camera stuff? Hope so. If not, please PM me. I have wanted to do this for SO long. It would be awesome to be able to share with family, friends, and even C3R.com the stuff we see out there.

I know the Micron stuff is spendy... like a grand or so, to buy all the stuff. Hope there is a cheaper way. One camera is actually fine with me... and prefer a way I can wip the lense, without ruining the camera lense. Is it encased in plexi-glass or something? How do you keep the silt from totally destroying the camera?

Perhaps a topic for a whole 'nother thread. If so, I will start one.

I was on the waiting list and one of the first to aquire a recorder from chasecam. Price wise and quality, I don't think there is anything out there that can touch it. It uses CF cards, and you can edit with Windows Media software. I really, really like it. I think entry point is about $500 nowadays, but I got in around $250. Check them out at http://www.chasecam.com

Chris -- they made it about 130 miles this year before the 3rd member blew. I was about 600 miles down South and didn't get to drive this year. But the way it was handling, I'm ok with it! :(
