Rio Vista, CA / Weiser, ID – WCBA Racing and their Early Bronco #301 are heading to the 40th Tecate Baja 1000. This year’s race will start in Ensenada and finish 1296 miles later in Cabo San Lucas, MX with a time limit of 53 hours. With a shake down run at Score Primm 300 behind them and the valuable information gathered from that run, the racer is prepped and ready to go.

The prep over the last few weeks since the Primm race has not been without it pit falls, in testing run just a week ago last Sunday with all of the kinks worked out and the suspension performing well the team lost the engine and transmission.. Daniel Field and Jim Lacey drove round trip from Weiser to LA in two days to pick up a new short block for the engine. Our sponsor Ultimate Transmission spent overtime in their shop to have a new transmission ready when they arrived back. The rest of the crew spent the time tearing the racer down to have it ready for the new plant to be installed and finishing prepping all of the final item on the racer. With the new short block in hand, Deon and Daniel Field assembled the new engine. Just one week after the infamous testing the team had the racer out and getting miles on the fresh motor.

On Tuesday the 6th the racer heads back to California for some minor tweaks by Jack Covert, IronBender and Adam of AA-Fab in Elk Grove. Thursday it heads south to San Diego for a short lay over then onto Ensenada Saturday the 10th.
Jeremy Parriott and Chris Brunner of Moab Utah are set to start the race and share the driving duties to south of Catavina where they will hand it off to Russ Haggerty and Marty Rasmussen. Russ and Marty will take it to La Purisma where Daniel Field and team owner Dan Wright will take it on to Cabo.

Mike West will act as WCBA Racing Crew Chief for the race and coordinate with the all volunteer support team Old Horse Racing.
