I'm the same Brandon_Charley from DR and RDC. My mom wants to race and I want to help her do it, and I've always like class 3, so I'm looking into throwing together an XJ for her/us. Simple and cheap, looking at old results sheets it looks like one could even be pretty competitive.
There are a couple of class 3 XY´s and a handful of jeepspeeds that are class 3 legal (or very close) "cheap" to build and with a well tested design.
welcome to C3R, enjoy your stay.

Welcome to the Site! :D
Glad to have you here, But Simple & cheap?
Can those words ever really be used when Off Road racing?
I suppose thats all relative to your income.

I'm thinking bolt on suspension, the hard parts, arms, leafs, shackles, steering, would be less than $2k. I'm thinking full race for under $10k. Not sure why, I think it is a weight thing, ut I imagine that an XJ would be a lot cheaper to campaign, lite vehicle=less abuse on parts, simple suspension=cheaper prep. We'll see.
