thanks for the welcome guys :)
my plans for the truck: chase truck, prerunner, and toy.
the very first time i ever got a ride in a prerunner i was 16, and i've been hooked ever since then. funny thing is that vehicle was a bronco that i believe i saw on the very forum that was kinda neat. the picture attached is of the bronco that i think i got my first ride in.
this last vegas to reno i had the opportunity to go on the prerun, and chase for a 1600car... that was what i needed to get me motivated to start my bronco.

thanks for the kind words:) ya 4 weeks i've been working my butt off on it. crappy thing is last night i sprained my shoulder.. so i wont be able to work on it for a couple weeks... i hate setbacks
yes, it is the giant 64 kit. i just boxed in the front spring mount, and machined out the u-bolt mount to accept 5/8 u-bolts, and sanded the spring perches to fit on my 3.5inch axle housing.

no i've never met him, i think for a brief time that bronco was owned by Sam Berri (if it is the same vehicle), and when sam owned it i got a ride.

Well what makes you think that?
Because Ollie painted it red.
I remember meeting Ollie at his house before he painted it.
Its a nice rig.

a couple of reasons.. first being how some of the rear tube work was done for the shock mount area.. and the dash. if it is the same truck was painted white when i got a ride in it, . although at some point a sister vehicle could have been built..

thank you :)
So whats the big hole for?
to get the head room i wanted i needed the seat to sit below the factory sheet metal, and mastercraft says you need at least 4 inches under the 3g seat. You need the 4 inches because on like a really hard g-out or hard bottomout the seat will absorb some of the movement, but the bottom of the seat can contact the floor. what can happen in like a worst case scenario is that when the seat bottoms on the floor you can compress your spine.

gas tank for now. i dont feel like making a can, and waiting on fuelsafe to build a bladder. because my goal is to take her out for the first time on newyears.
headroom. i know it is extremely decieving. i think that is because the 3g seats are so tall. if i remember correctly score rule is like 3 inches from helmet to roll cage tubes..
with my helmet on it was measured at a little under 3.5 inches, and i'm 6'1.

It's the first in a way. I've been a part of quite a few builds in the past. This is my first by myself build tho. Although recognition must be given to the powers that be for letting me build it in the shop.

What kind of fab shop do you work in? I have a client in Reno that could possible be interested in some fab services. His $120k Jeep Unlimited was stolen at the Baja 500. He's looking to replace it.
Nice work, I like the extra protection for the fuel cell, hope to see it in person soon.

He's open, but after doing the desert thing with us, he wants it to be able to be more speed oriented than the last one. It could even be a Bronco.

metal fab shop, we do everything from ornamental steel, structural steel, general fabrication, automotive fabrication. we have a waterjet, and also provide waterjet machine services.
we've done quite a few full vehicle build, and my boss has done like 10 more than me. He started out in toyota atlantics... on road indy type cars. doing vehicle race prep. When he moved to reno he soon got a job working for Rod Hall, and was the lead fabricator on i think 2 of the old H1's that the Halls used to race. In fact if im not mistaken if Chad Hall is still driving the red h1. that is the same vehicle my boss was the lead fabricator on.. however many years ago.

not if all the wheel are on the ground! They all look really tall when all 4 tires are sticking up in the air. Man, I gotta find those photos. I wasn't behind the wheel... disclaimer.
It looks fine, but I can't measure my total height to compare... it's 900 miles from me. Ray Leavitt Prep Services Extraordinare! :) Love you pop!

Just for reference my bronco sits at 6'8" or 80 inches. The height looks good, but perhaps a side shot would help.

After doing a SAS swap on my Sub., 35" tires with seven inches of lift. I have been reminded more than a couple times that an inch or two can make a big difference whether or not you get into a parking structure. If you don't have to worry about parking structures, great but if you use it as a daily driver, height can be a pain in the tail as well.

Hi Ryan:
Been keeping up with your build from time to time, and it looks good. I do have one comment on the steering setup and you might want to have another look at the geometry. The way it is in the picture with the pivots at the pitman arm and the swingset where they are, the tires are going to toe-in when you turn right, and toe-out when you turn left. There are likely to be some funny driving characteristics, and at the very least, will wear the tires funny. Just trying to provide some constructive suggestion.

ya, i figured i could either make a second swinger. or like sleeve my pitman arm and move the center connecting link up the pitman arm, i wasn't too confident of how long that would last because i have never tried something like that. or build a pitman arm which would be awesome but assume i would have to have the splined collar custom machined.
also i could not mount the the 2 heims on the swinger inline because i don't have the clearance.
i really really hope it works tho, and doesn't affect the steering effectiveness too negatively.
thank you very much tho, your thoughts, knowhow, experience, and ideas as well as everyone elses are greatly appreciated.

Ryan - Mark Kiefer at Southwest Performance is making me a double shear, dual heimed pitman. He indicated that there was other interest and he may just do a small run of them. If you're interested, give him a call 858-449-2292.

There you go, you had already thought through it and you knew exactly what I was talking about, I feel better! It is probably as good as some of the factory setups, like the inverted Y on the EB. What were they thinking?

i'm always looking on how people setup their steering system,. and yes, i notice something rare on this one, really don't know what to say, just made me wonder how you came up with this idea, how did you solve it, geometrical speaking, and looks like straightaxle came up with what could happend with that setup,
well, mm,. i forgot what was what i want it to say, haha,
just keeps me wonder if people (in general. not talking about this case only) who do these setups actually do some drawings prior to build it,, do they?
